Don't store these for a long time with the batteries installed, I've seen lots of reviews of this and similar cheap calipers complaining that they drain button cells while they're off.

Excellent, thanks!! I've been looking for a basic caliper for my 3D printing, I'll see how this one goes.

Limited availability but it seems like you can ship from any store for about $5.00.

+1 ... buy a bunch of spare LR44s. You'll need them! And contrary to CT's description... I don't think this requires 3 LR44 cells (at least, mine doesn't... it just uses 1), but I think they include 3 to get you started.

I'm still using my Mastercraft digital caliper from 2013 ($9.99 on sale, reg $39.99). The current one has fractional inches (e.g. 31/64") which mine doesn't... I guess that could be handy...

I purchased one some time ago, the repeatability was not good. I think it was defective, I returned it. I purchased it because a colleague at work has one and it is very good, no problems at all. The price is great, maybe I will try again.

Calipers measure girth. I use a yardstick for length.

No idea if it's me, but I bought that model a couple of months ago to replace my old one. To my surprise, the adjustment wheel does not make contact with the caliper so it kind of serves no purpose and it's super hard to fine adjust. The older model had a functional wheel:

100% they do. Has happened to me twice with this model.

It's a caliper and it works fine. Don't let full price fool you though.

Why is there fractional inch measurements in 128ths?

"Yeah, its at 77/128ths!"

I've never met any mechanic, machinist, or anyone who works with 128ths.

If this caliper cant produce a reading thousandths of an inch, .000", its not that useful for most.
