Mazda CX-5 GT 17" vs 19" Wheels

A friend of mine just purchased a 2015 Mazda CX-5 GT with 19" wheels.

She is thinking about downgrading wheels to 17" with all weather tires to use year round.

Other than the engine, are there any other major changes with the GS model vs GT model? For example, a different suspension, or larger brake size?

In other words, she wants to know if the 19" wheels in the GT are for a reason other than aesthetics.

Mostly aesthetics. Larger wheels also improve handling and cornering stability due to less tire wall flex.

However, that comes at a cost of a stiffer ride, and slower acceleration, more fuel consumption if the tire + wheel combo increases in weight.

Dig up the 2015 brochure and see if 17" wheels were an option on any of the trims. If yes, she should be ok to proceed.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

Downgrade to 17" for the winter

The GT trim with the 19" looks like a 4x4
