must spend at least $1k by Mar 31st to get the points. And Sony stores are all closing down so it would have to be purchased on their website only unless you can get the card before everything in their stores is gone.

The Sony Card on MBNA website, it shows "Get 10,000 Sony Points after your first eligible transaction". No requirement for $1000 spending.

Apply for a SonyCard MasterCard credit card today and, if approved, receive 10,000 BONUS Sony Points when you spend at least $1,000 on your card in eligible purchases almost anywhere by March 31st, 2015

EDIT: You are right, MBNA site doesnt have the same requirement.... lol

Mbna was advertising it like crazy when I logged in the other day to check my balance and pay it off. They were literally shoving it in front of my face.

no you don't

According to this old rfd thread as long as it's an authorized dealer, you can redeem. Just a little hassle of paying for the product first and getting credited back and according to the sony website faq as well.

Guys before applying, remember that aside from its 10,000 Sony points, this card has nothing special. You will be able to redeem your points only at Sony.ca, because all Sony stores in Canada are closing. No choice if you want to compare the prices and redeem your points: it will be Sony's website only. Any other Cash Back or Rewards MBNA card is better, because at least, you get your points in cash and spend/save it where you want.

I have done this deal several times over the last couple of years. You can buy Sony products where ever you like and mail in the form to use the points - I have done it with Best Buy, Future Shop, even Shoppers Drug Mart when I bought my PS4.
This is just warm as there is usually another offer you can stack with this - rebate on GCR, or free Sony product. The BT speaker plus 10K points last spring was great.
And because someone always asks, you need to spend $1000 on anything to get the points, not $1000 on Sony products....

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm currently stuck with 200$ worth of sony points and their website is terrible. Could you provide a link to this policy and the form required? I couldn't find any mention of this on their site.

Ya I signed up for this stupid card way back on gcr for the free e-reader. I have 10k pts now and wanna redeem so I can get rid of it. Is it 100 pts = $1 on sonystyle.ca? Cuz there's nowhere on their crappy site which tells me how many pts something costs. How do you even redeem pts on the site? Guessing the last checkout screen or something.

EDIT: Never mind, the pdf in the above post answered my question. Thanks.

EDIT2: Just tried to place an online order for one of those cybershot cameras, couldn't get past the Address screen on checkout, kept reloading the same page. Called support number and closed on weekends. Bruuuuutal.

EDIT3: Called again, spoke to cust sales (for Canada/US), not cust care (closed weekends). She processed the order. The pts cover taxes too which is good. Buh bye crappy Sony card. Any recommendations for a good rewards MC are welcome. Maybe I'll just get the PC pts one since I goto No Frills alot.

Thank you Bruce! The PDF doesn't mention how the purchase credit is applied. Is it just credited back to the card?

As above, the Sony store has practically nothing in stock anymore.... Can I buy PlayStation stuff elsewhere and use the form to claim? I'd like to buy PSN Credits or Games ideally...
