McCowan Road Between Lawrence & Highway 401 - Now 50km (Toronto, ON) Other Streets Discussed

I'm not sure what happened over the weekend, but McCowan Road is now 50km, from Lawrence Ave E, all the way to the highway.

This is not going to go well, since people are regularly going well above 60.

Why is Scarborough slowly decreasing all the speed? Brimley (for most of it) is now 50km as well, which wasn't the case years ago.

I can't say I agree here ...

Edit: Check the post for details on other roads becoming 50km/h this and next month.

Sounds like speeding tickets to me and I'm not even the guy who speeds.

Thanks for the articles. Not exactly sure this helps congestion. My commute home just got worse.

Thanks guys!

DAMN... that's a lot of roads.

Thankfully the only roads that may affect me will be Warden Avenue.

It's no big surprise though... all these roads go through significant areas of residential (at least the ones I can readily identify anyways).

50km/hr on all these major roads? The road rage and nightmare this is going to cause. Outside of rush hour = welcome to ticket city.

Luckily the stretch I need to drive isn't affected. And another reason to not go south of Steeles if I don't have to.

I already got pulled over and given a verbal warning 3 weeks ago on Yonge (just south of Steeles). I was not aware it is now 50kph as I was going in the mid 60kph.

eventually the cyclists may end up going faster than motorists.

And when does the city plan to start ticketing and charging jaywalkers?

This is actually really upsetting for me, someone who works and currently lives in Toronto.

I don't take the highway home to Scarborough, because its slower. The streets I take are now being reduced in speed, making the commute even slower. Take transit on the surface level? You'll be affected too!

You want me to continue to work and live in the city, yet you are making getting around it even worse.

I can't agree with this decision on major arteries of the city. Now I have to sacrifice more time, just to live and work in the city of Toronto.

Never.... jaywalkers and cyclists are next to god to these morons in Toronto city council.
