Nope, not it chief. They did it for sanitary reasons. The big tub wasn't doing it.
I had an employee at Costco describe it to me that way (people were filling Tupperware). Not that it matters - I think your reason is a good one for the switch.

in the coupon app. scan it at the kiosk

which coupon in the app? via "offers" or the mailer coupons? I do not see buy 1 get 1 free sandwich, only buy 1 and side get 2nd sandwich free. Is that the coupon?

No BOGO offer for me either.

The OP creeps me out too.

The mailer coupons
The OP uses breakfast sandwiches as an example, but the mailer coupon only lists burgers/mcchicken/filletofish, plus you need to get a side salad or poutine to get the 2nd sandwich free, Am I blind?

BOGO is no longer part of my mailer coupons either. It's been that way for months.

Some people in this thread say they're just joking, but I don't find it funny.

There are some people who are in legitimate financial difficulty and need to take a bit extra to get by. The retailers and corporations would probably be more generous if it wasn't for a subset of the population that abused such free condiments for "fun".

It's not the same as using the food bank when you make six figures, but it's close.

I've heard a lot of people like to keep a stash of McDonalds napkins in the car. Personally, I have a kleenex box instead.
I'm guilty of this but only because they give me a stack of napkins every time I order a breakfast sandwich and I feel bad throwing them away unused. :/

Don’t eat at McDo but upvoted to support OP against the “moral police”.

If you don’t like the deal and have nothing positive or negative to contribute, there is the easy “hide” button.

Obviously, pretending to be morally superior is NOT negative feedback - negative feedback would be about the quality of the McDo ketchup, etc...

you have no ideas how a report of stolen credit card (...) affect your credit. Happened twice in your history, that bank won't issue a credit card for you

Well whether a breakfast sandwich or regular sandwich that requires a side or not, the idea to make the more expensive one the free one is the same.

This is the type of abuse that forces the restaurant to make drastic changes affecting everyone.
