Also, I'm both a bit hyped and cold on this movie... I don't think Paul Rudd is good or charismatic enough to carry this movie, hope the focus is on both Kang and Modok LOL.

Tempted to buy the tickets ahead of time for Family Day. Hardly any theatres showing this is Regular 2D, and the only one I could find it at is the crappy screen.

RT lags a little but Metacritic has a score of only 52 based on 37 reviews

OK RT currently low 60s from 70+ reviews

Hmmmmmm....
Unlike the vast majority of the regs here in the Entertainment thread, I stick to no frills regular priced screenings of movies.
I tend to mostly go to the Queensway Cineplex in Etobicoke.
It has pretty much been for MCU movies.
I just looked at the screenings at Queensway, and the movie will only be screened in a regular theatre about 1 week after release.
So basically, they are strong arming everyone to watch it in a premium screening.
This seems to be the case for several Toronto based Cineplex theatres.
What a load of BS.

^ They'll most likely update the Cineplex website on Wednesday with some more "regular" auditoriums for screenings of this movie.

Is this standard? What's the benefit in delaying availability?
I imagine the hardcore advance ticket purchasers go full premium regardless.

It's rotten now, 53% from 130 reviews, might even drop more. Lowest rated MCU movie is Eternals at 47%.
I will wait for it to hit Disney+ instead of watching it theaters, probably in 45 days.
edit: dropped to 52% now

Yes, the Cineplex website is usually updated by Wednesday. In fact, they already did it tonight already.

The "regular" auditoriums have already been added for this Friday February 17th, including at your favourite theatre the Queensway.

If critics don't like it, that must mean the movie is actually enjoyable ..
Audience score would be a better indicator, as we have learnt time after time with RT.

I didn't think it was a bad as everyone said it was. It was decent but I would never rewatch it :p
Rotten Tomatoes critics have given other Marvel properties a "Juicy" rating when I thought they were just average or below average, like Moon Knight or Ms Marvel for example.

IMO, Eternals sucked. I will wait for Disney Plus for Quantumania.
BTW, I just finished watching Alchemy of Souls on Netflix. I thought I'd mention Alchemy of Souls because like Eternals it is also a show about a bunch of people with elemental powers. Despite it being cheesy as hell at times, I enjoyed it about 10X more than Eternals.

Bummer, starting tonight all the good IMAX seats have been nabbed already at the Scotiabank Theatre for the entire weekend. I'll probably settle for a "regular" auditorium this weekend since there are tons of good seats available. Admittedly, the picture and sound quality suck at these rooms compared to premium auditoriums. I'll be using my CineClub monthly tickets to see the film. Only good thing about not seeing it in IMAX is that I don't have to pay extra for an "upgrade" to premium auditoriums like IMAX and UltraAVX.

The quality of the image and sound is significantly better at home than the cheap movie theatres, which makes it difficult for me to pay for those in most cases. Often I'd rather just wait, esp. when it's not rated so well.Mr_Fanta wrote: ↑ Bummer, starting tonight all the good IMAX seats have been nabbed already at the Scotiabank Theatre for the entire weekend.
