The OLED display is really nice, battery life is good, it is thin and light, but RAM is soldered and non-upgradable. This laptop is only suitable if you prioritize a good display & portability over performance AND 8GB RAM is sufficient for your use case.

The i7-1165G7/16GB/512GB/OLED model is selling for $1200 at quite a few stores

Note:
1. the listing at Newegg does not mention OLED, but it mentions the display is 400 nits. Per Asus's specs for UX325, there are two display options: 300nits IPS panel and 400nits OLED. So the display of this model should be OLED.
2. the listing for this model at Memory Express mentions the display is OLED: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00115545

How can ASUS screw such a nice machine using only 8GB of RAM and knowing that the iGPU can easily reserve 2 of them?

Not the machine will be an slouch but 16GB would have been ideal on such real ultrabook.

There is 16GB version, but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere. See review below:
https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/asus- ... -13-um325s

It really don't make sense for Asus to sell the 8GB version. They can easily make it 16GB and charge $200 more.

8GB is not great in 2021. Given the price of ultrabook, might as well just throw in 16GB for useres.

I got my UX305FA probably 4 years ago, (maybe more?) and it has 8GB RAM. I'm not a tech person but should it not be more by now?

Love my 305 but it's time to upgrade and just waiting for a good deal on a zenbook. Is this one worth it?

For 13.3 inch laptop, it's quite common for RAM to be soldered and non-upgradable.

But Asus really should solder 16GB RAM, not 8GB.

I hate it.
Isn't ASUS a Taiwanese company?

I would recommend to wait for the 16GB RAM model.

If anybody see the 16GB RAM model for sale anywhere, please post on this thread and I will update the OP.

Shintoism or Buddhism, I grew up in Vancouver and I don't have my Eastern philosophies straight (shame on me).
Oh, the Zen of Zenbook aspect of it. I'd think rather Kaizen or Kanzen or any other similar industrial mindset approaches.

I use an LG OLED 55" C8 model as a PC Monitor (output from laptop) and I've essentially solved this problem.

Black background
Black taskbar
Auto-hide taskbar (until hover over)

No burn-in so far. I use a (4x) to (6x) split screen depending on the day.

This laptop is also available with 5800U and 16GB RAM, as mentioned in the reviews below. However, I have not seen it for sale anywhere.

It says 16hours of battery life so I'd say that's a bit better than just OK tbh...

Same price, 12gb of ram.
As OP put in bold for us, the big attraction of this deal is the OLED screen. Ever since my phone went OLED a decade ago, I've been drooling over getting that in a semi-affordable laptop.

C$900 is awesome for OLED, merely an okay deal for LCD. But as everyone pointed out, 8GB RAM is less than ideal, especially if you're planning for 5-10 years of usage.
