MEC tubes have bad reviews. But maybe people satisfied with a tube don't bother to write a review so hard to say if they're okay or not. Anyone here use em?

I've used all brand of tubes. None of them are puncture proof. MEC tubes aren't as bad as it's been reviewed. Just don't go speeding through pot holes.

Anyone been to Mec recently?
I'm wondering if there are better sale items in store. They had a REALLY good clothing liquidation sale pre-covid and I'm hoping they want to clear out more gear :D

I've used them in the past as they come in minimal packaging, great to stuff in a saddle bag or elsewhere.

Nothing special really, just an average tube. Didn't have any premature failures that i'm aware of, quality seemed okay.

I use Decathlon tubes now. I can't say for sure if it was my used tire or tubes but I've only gotten 1 flat this year (1000KM+). I was at 5+ punctures last year at this point.

But tbh, there's a huge luck factor to punctures imo.

In my experience, I end up with more punctures with the MEC tubes than Conti when biking around Toronto. Considering the price diff between this and the brand name I'd recommend Contis instead.

We used to call these inner tubes...for decades. Nomenclature seems to have changed since last i rode a bike. Might do to get my old Kuwahara restored now that the bike repair shops are open again. Thanks...

I've never had an issue with MEC tubes. But I've been running the same one for so long I can't even remember when I last got a flat (knock on wood) so maybe the quality has changed since then. I've probably put 5,000km+ on this tube now that I think of it.

With the way he prices have shot up over the years I hope they are giving out free titanium sporks to members when thier 50th comes around. I remmeber when MEC used to never have any sales and just some end of year clearences. Now you see sales often. Also the prices used to be at least to me anyways affordable for stuff but now it seems expensive. I recall the Deuter AC28 backpack costing me approx $55 and the Deuter Exp Air was about $5-6 less (I own both) and now that Exp Air is $119 https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5056-880/ ... ir-Daypack .

Then they messed up the updated version of the MEC Carry All shoulder bag (not the messenger size) which the original model worked very well. The updated ones used velcro and had a flaw where if you somehow turned the bag upside down almost EVERYTHING falls out where as the original had a zippers main compartment, zippered secondary compartment, zippered folding flap with a fastex buckle (which you could always buy other buckles and make an extention say if you're running around with a jacket and the bag is stuffed full you can clip your extention on).

Better get it while you can, I have a feeling this company or at least a lot of their locations won’t be around for much longer.

That chair would go well with https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5052-017/Ultra-Lite-Table when you're stuck in line for 9hrs at the DMV (was on CTV News at 23:30 last night, DMV @ VicPark/Lawrence location) where some guy waited 9hrs - OUTDOORS - just to take thier M1. My goodness, I totally feel for all of you that have to take your drivers driving test or drivers test in these pandemic times.

EDIT:

Ouch... drive safe everyone.

Why do you say that? MEC @ North York just opened up like 2 yrs ago taking over the Sheridan Nurseries that has been there forever.
