MegaMiles 2019 - DEPARTURE LOUNGE (a place to CHECK IN with other RFDers doing the MMs 2019 Event)

Hey Everyone,

With the change in format this year, I thought some the camaraderie of the past events might be missing
So I added this LOUNGE topic as a place to hang out and chit chat about how you all are doing in regards to the “Treasure Hunt” that MegaMiles is.

You might want to start by CHECKING IN, so we have a rough idea of how many RFDers are ON BOARD for this BIG BONUS Event

Just give us a quick post to say Hi

But feel free to add more if you wish ...

What your Goals are in terms of Offers / Partners & BIG BONUS Miles
And even if you have long term plans for all the miles you are chasing

NOTE - The Lounge is not a place to ask OFFER Questions... the individual Offer Threads are for that
And GENERAL MMs Questions ... they can be asked in the START HERE - MMs 2019 Thread

This is the Departure Lounge kick back relax
Spend a little time getting to know fellow AMs Collectors & RFD Buddies
.
.
.
I’ll get the ball rolling:

Plan on doing 5 PARTNER OFFERS for the maximum 1000 BIG BONUS BAMs

Live in Eastern Ontario
So lucky to have the relatively easy ability to use both Ontario & Quebec Offers

As there are so many National Offers in this BIG BONUS Event
Plus a high number that span the entire 30+ Day Event
And providing a high number of BAMs
(3x - 25 - 50 - 75 - 100 - 150 - 250 BAMs)
Chances are very high I will be doing some offers more than once to stockpile Miles into my Dream Miles Account for future travels

Hi everyone! Waving Hand Sign

I'm also from Ontario and will be going for 5 offers to get the max bonus. Been seriously collecting Air Miles for about 4 years now.

Hello! I'm from Ontario too, and I'm going for 5 offers. Will probably do some offers more than once for the bonus miles, hoping to get Onyx this year!

Just bought a bottle from LCBO this afternoon. I plan to do Sobeys, Shell, Metro and Rexall as well.

where is $9 bottle for ontario? I can only see lowest $12.95

Seeing this dedicated Subforum....it brings a tear to my eye Face With Tears Of Joy

@PointsHubby, @TomRFD...great work guys!!

I'm in Ontario too, and I can't believe how easy the event is this time around :D I had to get gas today, so I've already done the Shell one, with my AM MC. But I haven't decided how I'm going to do my five yet...I'll likely be patient and see how the deals shape up and see what tricks arise, and cherry pick the best ones :) I feel like a kid in a candy store right now, just walking around in awe...taking in the sights!
*RFD - once you're in there's no getting out.*

*If you wanna buy something, wait for it! Eventually RFD will post it and something in your pants will feel awesome that you waited: your wallet.*

Thanks for the kind words.

It’s a work in progress... still under construction (don’t mind the dust)

Gonna be awhile until everything is as it should be... but when Tom said “DEDICATED FORUM” I was totally onboard ... despite the insane timeline (and some wacky technical blips)

Hopefully like past AMs ventures on RFD, things will just keep getting better & better over time

PS... thanks for CHECKING IN

Vancouver
Hi! I'm from Vancouver BC and am pretty new to these AM events. I did do the Back to School one back in Sept (I think I spent about $150) but couldn't manage the one that was around X'mas.

This time I plan to do:

1. Rexall - Redeem 190 AMs for $20 (March 25-28) (New Westminster / Metrotown)
Rexall $5 off $25 purchase coupon (https://www.rexall.ca/assets/downloads/ ... ey2019.pdf)
2. Shell - fill up 25L (5 BAM) / spend $10 (5 BAM)
3. Rona - Buy a bag of Green Cross lawn seed or fertilizer (12 AM) (Mar 21 - Apr 24) Offer Code 1044 (Burnaby)
OR 15 BAMs when you use 95 cash miles for $10 / 25 BAMs when you use 190 cash miles for $20 (Apr 4 - 24)
4. Lowe's - Buy a bag of Green Cross lawn seed or fertilizer (12 AM) (Mar 21 - Apr 24) (Queensborough) (will give the fertilizer away lol)
5. Rewarding Your Opinion - 15 AM for completing survey (Mar 21 - Apr 25)

Spare:
6. BMO card buy $250 at Shell (will get GCs) for 100 BAMs (I don't have this card, will need to apply for it)
7. Airmilesshop - $100+ purchase for 50 BAMs (I don't have anything $100+ I want to get at the moment)
8. The Children's Place Buy 3 or more graphic tees (10 AMs) (Mar 21-Apr 21) (Metrotown) (if the first 5 doesn't post by mid-April I'll go buy some cheaper graphic tees and donate them)

No ACE or Thrifty Food close to where I live unfortunately... If I can do it with the first 5 then it costs me less than $50 cash to get the 1000 BAMs. Hopefully it all works out! Smiling Face With Open Mouth

Wow soooo easy. Love Airmiles.

Rexall redeem 190 miles for $20 and 40 bonus miles
Metro redeem 95 miles for $10 and 25 bonus miles
Shell redeem 95 miles in store for $10 and 5+20 bonus miles
Rona redeem 95 miles for $10 and 15 bonus miles
Jean Coutu redeem 85 miles for $10

So really hardly any money will be spent out of pocket. In summary I spend 560 cash miles and receive $60 in product value and 1105 miles.

Hi. I am in Ontario and bought grass seed at Lowes and wine at LCBO today.
I signed up for the BMO card after all the info from Shop the Block last year (thanks) so am thinking about using it at Shell or Staples to buy various gift cards. Then I plan to do Metro and Shell to finish the five for 1000 Air Miles. I think there will be other events I can do just to add to my Air Miles total. I am dreaming of reaching 6000 this year - with all the help from RFD.

I'm also in ON, this is what I have in mind (get many free for being a first timer)

1/ First time sign up and convert HBC to AirMiles - Free
2/ First time rewarding your opinions - Free
3/ First time sign up and link to Samsung Pay - Free - with an A5
4/ Shell either spend in-store $10 or fill up $25 of gas - will have to buy gas anyway
5/ LCBO or Lowe's Green Cross Lawn Seed - waiting for the 2nd batch of LCBO to see which is cheaper - around ~$10
Backup: drives test at Lexus - Free (how does it work out actually?)

Approx $40 for 1000 MegaMiles (can be even cheaper if I just choose the in-store $10 at Shell), should we aim for a record of the cheapest money spent to qualify? :D

Lol, you might just have won that prize!

LCBO Offers on these BIG BONUS Events usually start at the $ 10 amount and go up from there
If you are after wine, often there are some good ones in the Promo in the $ 15 to $ 20 range
Post again when the LCBO Offers / Topic is up, and I can make suggestions on your preferences
(White, Red, Rose, Dry, Sweet etc)

Ontario. This one for me is pretty easy. Hoping to do 2 cards. Love this new thread format! So organized - and can get answers to specific offers without scrolling through 1000 post. Thanks for setting it up and your time.

Thanks so much to PointsHubby for organizing this MM promo.

I learned from the last promo that I need to have a spreadsheet to manage multiple AM cards, otherwise it becomes unmanageable and I'll miss getting the partners at certain limited time periods. For example, the Rexall 190AM/$20 and Jean Coutu 85AM/$10 redemptions happen in the weekdays only Mon-Thur/Fri Mar 25-28/29 so they are easily missed with everything else happening in your busy schedule. I think the early expiration offers should be listed at the top of the MM forum to make it easier for members to spot.

I have columns for the card # and rows for the retailer with dates and items to get. I can see at a glance which partner to complete at what week without pulling my hair out. I managed to complete 24 partner counts and got 6K BAMs for 3 AM cards even after missing out Samsung and IGA.
Also when you redeem AMs in the store, it's best to do the following in sequence every time since the cashiers have missed them for me multiple times when we are in a hurry. They always missed scanning the coupon because they are not familiar with the process.
1. Scan the AM card,
2. Scan the coupon/bar code
3. Pay (with BMO AM CC)

If you have a spouse, it's worth it to get an AM card for each person, even now at the start of the promo. I've accumulated all the BAMs on the last 2 promos.

Good post.
Although I didn’t fully understand the last bit
Are you saying each person should have their individual AMs Accounts
Or...
That your Spouse can get a copy of your card for your account

There is quite a debate about each here on RFD

The latter is what we do
Infact when you become Onyx the AMs Welcome Pkg contains an extra Onyx Card to share
So AMs actually encourages family members to pool miles into one account

As spouses it definitely works for us...
We find we accumulate faster on day to day earns (ie 2 Cars, 2 Cards... Miles every time either of us fill up at Shell)

As Dreamers bigger miles numbers means more, better vacations

Cash Milers, I think they do far better with individual cards...
especially on BIG BONUS Events
At the end of MMs they’ll have 1000 BB BAMs in multiple accounts
Where i’ll Only have it once
But when added to my already large pile of AMs it will go much further in the long run

AirMiles Cash is like a Chequing Account
AirMiles Dream Miles are like a Savings Account

Got to know your own Goals, to make them work for you

Alberta deals suck!
My plan
1) Fill up 25L at Shell 5 BAM
2) Shop at Sobey's for $50 and pay with BMO airmiles credit card 12 BAM
3) Shop at Safewawy for $50 and pay with BMO airmiles credit card 12 BAM
4) Shop at Sobey's Liquor for $150 and pay with BMO airmiles credit card 150 BAM
5) Spent total of $250 on BMO airmiles credit card 100 BAM

Total AM = 1000 + 279 = 1279

Not sure if it worths the effort, but I will try.

Well you’ve spent $ 250 and earned back 1279 in Miles
With the Cash Mile Standard (95 Miles = $ 10)
You’ve made back AT LEAST a value of $ 134.63
More potentially if you are collecting Dream Miles vs Cash Miles
I say, not bad
