[Memory Express] Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 5900HS - RTX3080, 32GB DDR4, 1TB SSD (1 left)

This laptop has been labeled by many as the one of the best laptop of 2021. However, it has been on backorder everywhere since Feb. Best buy briefly had some stocks this friday, but were gone within a day.

There are 1 left online at MemoryExpress, an official retailer of Asus. I bought the last one they had in stock in hamilton and picked up. It's unknown when the next shipments will be at BB, Canada Computers, or Memory Express.

Yup! I work in data science, and work with large amounts of data all the time. after tax around 4k is a worthwhile investment for me, especially given the shortage of GPUs everywhere.

I tried searching, but I unfortunately cannot figure out what is the wattage for the GPU. I know this is the Max-P variant since the chassis weighs a grand spanking 1.9 kg. Personally, if I was in a market for a 3080, I'd want the fastest 3080 possible with full wattage pumped through the GPU and adequate cooling through a larger chassis. There's simply too many compromises in this product for me to justify the purchasing price.

Also, I'd rather not pay 3K+ for a measly 8GB of VRAM.

Some youtuber put in a lot of effort and has cataloged essentially all the 30XX laptops and their configs/tgp/etc GizmoSlipTech RTX 3000 Laptop List w/ Ratings!

To answer the above question, I think the Zephyrus cooling tops out at ~100W for any of the GPU variants.

I actually cancelled mine from amazon at 3200 after watching some reviews. It's a 90 or 100 watt 3080 so you're looking at marginal gains, it's also white with a white backlit keyboard which gets old fast. The gray 3070 is what I'll be watching or the strix 3070 or 3080 which I believe are 130w cards.

But tbh, for $4000 tax in gaming notebook, it better cook me some dinners and walk my dog too.

Fyi the Memory express NE location is closed due to a covid issue for 2 weeks. Hence the stock.

I bought the Alienware m17 R4 with 3080 16GB VRAM, 32GB and 1TB SSD with the intel i7 (yes I know it's not as good as the 5900) for less than $2500 with Rakuten, this is far too much for an 8GB version which is very likely on the low end of TGP, the m17 is 165W.

I check dell price is 3049 before tax, with 10% sign in offer and 8% rakuten. How to buy in less than 2500? Is 2500 after tax?

It was $2999 - 10% - 8% Rakuten = $2483.08 + tax (5% for me), sorry I should have clarified it was before tax, either way $1000 less than OP's laptop. This was also about a month ago and it appears prices have gone up a bit, m17 is still a far better deal than this imo.

Wow! Drools 🤤 but too expensive!

If I was gaming at other people’s places and mobility mattered to me than sure otherwise a desktop is just so much cheaper overall.

Cash back should be before tax and deducted after the tax price for cost.

Some ppl might want AMD CPUs exclusively, m17s don't offer them.

If they want to pay an extra $1000 for an AMD CPU that's up to them.

Sorry $2699+ 5% - 8% = $2618.03 all in is still better than $3673.95 +shipping for a 5900HS and half the VRAM and a much lower TGP.

Way better. Consider dell is 165w 16gb 3080 vs g15 8gb 3080 105w?

So do you receive your laptop or still wait? I check order now may wait at lease 1 month or delay longer.
