Seems like an overkill motherboard given the non-overclockable CPU

Didn't even notice that it was the i7-10700 and not the i7-10700k. Yeah, totally overkill motherboard and not the best deal anyways considering 10700 is ~$100 cheaper or more.

My guess is lots of BO for the i7 10700K at the moment.

If you want i7-10700, a good choice of MB would be something like MSI MAG B460 MORTAR. It’s not expensive and allow overclocking by increasing PL1/PL2

Store created bundles don’t always make sense. They just put together parts they want moved.

It's BO (i7 10700K) to who knows when.

I was kicking around that combo, but still hemming and hawing over the Asus Prime vs Strix motherboard, and that brought me to whether it's best to go with LGA1151 vs 1200, which as I understand is the newer platform and may have some more longevity.

I was looking at those 2 boards as well, but right now have decided on a Gigabyte Vision G board. Any particular reason you like Asus? The 1200 socket is new and should have one more generation of cpus for it. I am undecided on 10600k or 10700k. They have 10600k in stock at my store but still no board or cpu cooler. Kind of gives me time to decide I guess, could even change the board for that matter.

I miss the days where a board and Core i5 CPU were ~450$ Canadian, with 550$ if you wanted the Core i7 variant... Mostly 2011 when the dollar was at par and most provices didn't charge sales tax yet...

I've always liked Asus, so I stick with them. I just don't like paying full price for them. :p

Don't buy for future proof at this point ddr5 coming soon
375 is what I paid for a 10400 with motherboard. It already plays game and I'm waiting for the 3070 to come out. Another 50 for a WiFi 6 with Bluetooth as I didn't want to pay premium on that Everytime I upgrade.
