[Memory Express] Western Digital Blue Series 3D NAND SATA III 2.5in Solid State Drive, 500GB for $69.99 ($30 off)

Currently, on sale until January 17th.

Has a DRAM controller and 5-year warranty.

On sale at other retailers too..... but Bezos has way too much money already IMO

I did mention you can buy it at the same price from Bezos.

Plus you can support a more local vendor and drive to the ME in Vancouver. Like I said, Bezos has enough money.

Then get it from Bezos for the same price and further support the oligarchy. Not sure what else to say.

I’m all for supporting Canadian companies, but the Crucial MX500 500GB at $69.99 is a better deal. Wait for it to come back at that price. Might be an Amazon only price though lol

Correction: the Crucial MX500 500GB at $69.99 was a better deal.

Could be a long wait though. That was an all time low price. And it was available for only a couple of hours.

I bought it for $73.99 on Oct. 30, 2020 - it’ll be back down in price soon. $4 is more is worth it over the WD Blue. WD Black, which I believe is only M.2 NVMe SSD is def up there with the players.

For those recommending MX500, there has been a known write amplification issue with its firmware that apparently hasn't been resolved to this day.

https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads ... n.3571220/
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ ... _8999_and/

This drive is usually the competitor to the MX500, but since this one doesn't have that issue, it's probably the better buy. Although I'm not sure buying a 500gb sata is worth it these days. cost/gb is more than getting a 1tb unless its mainly for a boot drive in which case i think you can find even cheaper deals at 250gb

I have never seen it at the supposedly regular price of 99...paid 74.99 maybe 2 months ago and it was pretty much the regular price

Interesting I’m reading those threads, why isn’t this issue more prominent when you Google the drive and why hasn’t Crucial fixed it.

I also read a lot about the issue. It seems to have to do with some specific usage patterns: when MX500 is being used 24/7 with mostly reads and very little writes. For me (also bought a 1tb MX500 recently, now debating if I should return it), I write a lot to my SSD every week via program compilation/linking, I hope that would not be a problem.
