[Memory Express] XPG GAMMIX D20 32GB DDR4 3200 CL16 Dual Channel RAM Kit (2x 16GB) $89.99

Saw this from r/bapcsalescanada. Seems a decent price for 32GB DDR4 ram kit.

I can't believe RAM prices are to the point where you can get 64gb for under $200...

I have 4x of the D20 (two different sub-models) in my Ryzen 3600x system. No issues in a specific combination. I thought paying $130-$140 was cheap at the time.

I have a pair of 3200 CL16-18-18, should it work at full speed with this CL16-20-20? B550 board and runs at that speed with DOCP

Isn't the 16-20-20 slower? It should work at the slower of the two. They are so close, I doubt you feel any speed difference.

In my older systems, I've never had issues mixing two pairs. Never tried it with these though. Even if the 2x8 don't work, you gained 32.

ok thanks. the 2x16gb comes down cheaper than 2x8gb for the kit I have. 110$ vs 65$. don't want to have 2 dead unit so I don't know.

Considering this as well. Both the 32gb or 64gb are 25% off. Going from my current 16gb I'm sure either way things will be much better.

Thanks OP, I jumped on this on the last day. One of my memory slots went bad on my motherboard over the weekend and with the placement options, 2 sticks will work better than limping along with improperly placed ram.

I'm pretty sure I'm sitting on 32GB I bought for $200 like a year or two ago.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

RAM prices are starting to come down as well due to the wider availability of DDR4 RAM and DDR5 RAM is coming out to replace it (though they're still eye wateringly expensive). The timings are also a factor when it comes to RAM pricing as well as capacity. Remember that your system will run on the LCD (lowest common denominator), where it will run on the slowest RAM and hold back your faster RAM if you are adding more RAM just like plugging in a slower USB device will lower the speed of all your USB devices plugged into the same hub to run on the slowest device.

Buying RAM will require some homework rather than just buy now, think later to make sure you are really getting a deal and the most bang for your buck from that RAM upgrade, which may result in a downgrade depending on your setup.

This is an excellent price for RAM though, if you're looking for more RAM in general to give your system some extra "leg room" if you multitask a lot or have many browser tabs open simultaneously.
Why settle for full retail price when you can wait and get it at a lower price for better value (even better if there's a bundled freebies deal)? 😉

Instead of randomly buying cheapo RAM and trying to Frankenstein together a combination of different brands, timings, capacities, just buy the best RAM you can afford for your needs. Are you editing very high quality video, or aiming to play the very latest games at 4K with all the Ray-Tracing bells and whistles? If not, you are better off spending more on 16 GB of better RAM than trying to go for 32 GB or 64 GB. Do you have a Ryzen system? Then try to buy RAM that will maximize you Infinity Fabric Clock. I would suggest 3600 MHz with timings of 16-18-18-36 or less. Also, just because your motherboard may have 4 RAM slots, that does not mean you will get the best performance from 4 RAM sticks. Most RAM is dual channel. Loading up on RAM sticks just means you will have more difficulty maintaining stability at tighter (lower) timings, leading to more crashes.

Did exactly that with this ram… no issues… 48 seems like a strange amount, but it’s better than 32!
