Organic Dunlop Latex Mattress Topper 2" Queen - $359 All In

Deal Link:
Price:
$359
Retailer:
Memory Foam Comfort
I was looking at one of the Leesa and the Endy and the etc. mattresses but they have either latex-like foam or synthetic latex or memory foam in their mattresses, which may or may not matter to you. Same goes for all similarly priced Latex mattresses on Amazon or Wayfair, including Classic Brands, Swiss Ortho, and Dreamfoam/Brooklyn Bedding.

So, I have been looking for deals on pure latex toppers, and this is best I could find for non-blended organic Dunlop latex. Free shipping and taxes included. I ordered mine on the long weekend and it's coming tomorrow, I think. Ships form Delta, BC. The sale still seems to be on.

There might be local retailers that might offer you a better deal, but this is pretty good for Vancouver. There are some less expensive toppers on eBay from US sellers, but you have to deal with eBay's ridiculous "expedited shipping" options.

MFC is a decent Canadian company, but no returns, so try out some latex bedding beforehand. More information about latex can be found here: http://www.themattressunderground.com/m ... -foam.html

Yup, non-blended dunlop organic is the best of the bunch. Had our full bed for 10 years now, its worth every penny. Might pick one of these up, we have the firm full bed version and my wife would like the bed to be softer.

I don't have much experience with latex mattresses (owned an ikea latex once, but found it too firm) but from the research I've done since seems to indicate that Tatalay latex is the way to go for comfort.
On the Koodo plan bandwagon 😉, all aboard!

Yes, possibly. I was looking for a Talalay topper/mattress too, but couldn't find a good enough deal for nonblended Talalay latex. The question of diminishing returns is also a concern, and I can live without "liveliness" or bounciness in my bed. Blended Talalay with a higher ILD would make a good support core, a durable replacement for spring cores. I also impulse bought a Lucid 10" Latex mattress for $399 all in from Linen Spa on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0099X7W0U/ I am told the 3" latex top is a 20% Dunlop NR and 80% synthetic blend, which I think is reasonable for the price. The base foam has a density of 1.6 lbs per cubic foot. 1.8 or more seems ideal. I might regret this in a few years, along with the fact it's made in China, and foam from China seems to be compressed for longer periods of time, which is bad for it. I got the last one, but it might come back in stock from Linen Spa. I'll post a new thread if it comes back at that price.

I called up Discount Foam in Vancouver and he offered me a nonblended Talalay for $438(+tax, I think), which seems a good deal. Most sellers seem to be carrying organic non-blended Dunlop because Talalay cannot be certified organic, because its processing requires "non-organic" additives. Thus, I assume there's a smaller market demand for non-blended Talalay toppers.

The delivery guy is coming back on Monday, and I'll report back on the feel and stuff of this Dunlop topper. The sale has also been extended into a Thanksgiving sale, into October, so there's more time to research it.

I got the topper in soft (20 ILD). I made the bed, and without meaning to, napped for a few hours. Very comfortable and huge upgrade from the firm Ikea mattress I was on, but a bit soft for my back. Feels like sleeping on a marshmellow. I think I need to get a medium topper too. Some odour, but it's not too chemical-like. I cancelled my Amazon order, so the Lucid mattress I mentioned is available again in case anyone is looking.

The mailing label says this shipped from Renelle Furniture, which has a bunch of retailers, most of whom do not post their prices online. I still believe this is an excellent buy-it-for-life type deal. Ebay.ca has a similar topper for $331, but almost a month to get to BC: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/262611291405

Foam By Mail also has a similar price, but shipping to BC is not free.

Hi OP,

Thanks for the deal, perfect timing for me. Did you order the protective cover also. If yes, how is the quality. If no, what would you suggest to use.

And how is your setup for this topper, do you need to buy something else to complete the bed.

I am thinking about to buy this to use with the box spring which i got from Sears deal for 27$. Will it work

Please share your thought if you don't mind, much appreciate.

Thanks

I was able to add both types of King to the cart just now.

Not significantly. Synthetic latex more so because it is made from petrochemicals, but that is tested and cleared too. 1" might be too thin for most people. Foam By Mail has it: https://canada.foambymail.com/LTX_T/dun ... opper.html

Yes, the organic thing is mostly marketing, because non-blended rubber and organic rubber are equivalent. Even so, because it has to be certified, it is a guarantee that you aren't getting blended latex. This remains a good deal for natural latex layers, organic or not. It is up to you if you want to pay a small premium for non-blended latex over a blend that can ranges from 15% Natural Rubber to 80% Natural Rubber.

Most far more heavily marketed "One Size Fits All" mattresses like Bear, Leesa, BME, Endy either use Memory Foam, or synthetic latex/latex-like layers, or use a blended latex (which is the best case scenario).

I didn't get their bamboo protective cover. I got a Safe Rest mattress protector from Amazon for $40 instead. It's up to you, of course. I had a wooden bed frame with slats, a newish ikea mattress foam mattress, and I just put the topper on top of them.

I'm not sure about your setup, wrto box springs, but you can have a read here: http://www.themattressunderground.com/m ... tress.html

Normally you have a base mattress below the topper. Can be any mattress really, but ideally a firmer memory foam.

I have purchased this in the past, and MFC is great. Mine came with a bamboo cover which is pretty high quality 3-4 years later. I put bed sheets over it so it doesn't really get dirty.

This is the normal price so not really a "hot deal" - but upvote because MFC is a great Canadian company that isn't pure marketing like some of its competitors.

Mattresses.net is offering 3" Latex toppers (I think 100% Dunlop) for a good price, $279 USD for Queen: http://www.mattresses.net/3-inch-latex- ... opper.html

I asked them about shipping fees to Canada, but they haven't got back to me. I expect them to be high, $50 USD or more.

I'm not sure, I think that should be fine. Maybe ask MFC or Phoenix form that forum?
