Still looking for clarification if the 4G version works on mobilicity/wind

Since mobilicity just came out with the Galaxy S 4G -- and there are some minor differences, this seems a better deal with a higher CPU and higher PPI screen advantage.

Agreed. If someone can confirm they have the 4G working on Wind (not theoretically), I will pull the trigger. Thx! :)

Found this thread indicating the cpu may infact not be faster, but the same as Galaxy S.

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy ... speed.html

Also, if the model sold by Virgin Mobile is same as SGH-T679M then the detailed manual available here: http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/model ... -downloads only shows WCDMA and GSM bands, no mention of AWS.
Although, it's very possible that AWS frequencies are soft locked.

Could it be this phone: http://www.walmart.com/ip/T-Mobile-Sams ... e/17420426 ?

Well if it is indeed the same as the Exhibit II 4G on tmobile, then it will for sure work.
But virgin's website has no record of this, nor does futureshop's site -- is it only avail at futureshop walk in?

There is also a CM9 Beta out for this at XDA forums, which does not exist for Galaxy S 4G, and may not likely in the future.

If an RFDer can confirm this works with wind when unlocked, I may grab one for my father. The only thing holding back a T-Mo buy is ridiculous shipping and/or import fees :(

Checked at Futureshop.
They had none in stock.
They had none on order.
They had none at ANY store in ontario ( as per their product database. ) I started at a screen with a whole bunch of 0s.

In addition to this, they had none of the Bell Galaxy W 4G variant as well ( for $249 ). None in stock or On order, at any of ontario stores.

It seems this product has disappeared as soon as I managed to confirm that it will work with Mobi/Wind. There may not be any coming either.
Unless FS database has something funky going on thursdays as far as stock goes.

In hindsight, also found out at the same time that the rogers galaxy Q will work on mobi/wind ( albeit a much weaker product ) upon unlocking.

Whoa, where does it say that the SGH-T589R supports AWS?

I don't recall seeing the Galaxy W as part of Virgin's lineup, but it's possible they might start launching it.

If you don't mind not working on Wind/Mobi, and if you can find it, the Galaxy S (old version) is the same price off contract regular as well, but was recently discontinued and removed from their website. It's quite possible the W is meant to replace it, and probably the stock isn't selling well on Bell.

Just had a friend at Best Buy look up Galaxy W in the system. Saw a Virgin Mobile one for $199.99 with actual stock. Forgot to get the SKU though.
