I wouldn't bother ordering online if you actually want to get the MBP for $1049. It will probably be the same story as when the ATV3 went on sale last month. Best to get to the store an hour early and wait outside in the cold. FYI, the King and Yonge location has 2 entry points, one of them is in the PATH underground (in the warmth), and I believe it's also closer to the counter where they'll line you up once you get inside.

If the 13" Retina ($1599) can be combined with 10% off (another $160), that would make for a decent price.

I have a MBP 2009 (unibody) and I cannot justify paying $1600 + tax for a Macbook. Especially for a first generation retina display. Was thinking of grabbing one but decided to install an SSD and save $1500 + tax.

My guess is the 10% should still work for the retina MBP, isn't there only 1 doorcrasher, the MBP at $1049?
I'm betting that some poeple on here will get lucky and score 10% off the doorcrasher MBP and post on here to brag about it, they wil then tell ppl what stores they did it at and by the time others get there they will be OOS....

At this point, would it not be better to wait for the new Macbooks?

If you can, yeah. Apple is being a ***** by redesigning the MBP, but keeping the old model around to milk as much as cash as it can. This is like what Volkswagen did with the Canadian market, redesign the Golf, and still sell the old one... WTF.

I've read that they might possibly go all-retina this year (with the exception of the Air), along with lower prices, since the retina would then be their mainstream product.

Positioning choices aside, I really like the 15" rMBP. There's simply nothing like it... 10+ hour battery, CPU that is as fast as anything Apple makes (50% faster than 2011 quad-core iMacs), 256GB SSD at a minimum, discrete graphics, super thin and light for what it is, and of course, a stunning screen. It's a WAAAAAY better value than the 13" retina, which has a much crappier dual-core CPU, half the SSD, no discrete graphics, less battery life.

Was so close to pulling the trigger - then realized Macs are just 2x the price of what they should be. I do want a MBP, but I'll wait for a better deal.

OMgggg... 100 dollars off a computer that is 1700 dollars. I want to hoard 10 of them and sell them on Kijiji.

Sorry guys, if you have your eyes on Retina model, the 15 inch is the only acceptable model. A super-high def screen without a discreet graphics card? Come on Apple

Glad I didn't impulse buy it - would have probably ended up returning it.
