[Metro] Metro AAA Platinum Top Sirloin Roast/ steak pack 5.99/LB (ON)

Deals on from march 3-9. Awesome price, considering prices for food nowadays. In a matter of fact, this is precovid pricing.

like any steak; medium rare  But seriously, I just pan fry it till about 125-130 degrees; just make sure the steak is dry, so you can get a good crust and let it rest for 5 minutes. Everyone has their own favourite method though.

My favourite way is reverse sear. So I can eat right when it's still hot from the crust. The problem with waiting 5 minutes for me is the wait itself and it gets cooled. I like my steak nice and hot while still tender rare.

I rarely find Costco prices can touch the sale prices from any of the regular stores. <shrug>

My thoughts on Costco for meat is that you'll pay a reasonable price everyday, but can (almost) never beat the once-in-a-while sale prices of others if you're willing to wait and drive around. If I'm randomly in the mood for a steak I'll head to Costco without much thought, knowing I'm not being completely ripped off. If I had a vacuum sealer I'd probably buy more from sales like this Metro deal and freeze

Keep in mind I believe Costco is always AAA, vs 90% of the sales at other places being AA

I realize a lot of things are more expensive grocery wise at Costco.

I don't remember the last time I bought red meat from costco because it's always so pricey.

There's pretty much nothing that's more expensive at Costco than regular grocery store prices...

If you're talking about flyer sales, then yes, Costco's regular prices are higher than most sales. That's kinda the whole point of sales.. to get you into the grocery store so you buy other stuff

That's NOT what RFD is supposed to be about. It's about BEST DEALS. Costco's deals on meat are almost never ever competitive, much lest "cheap".

Stop gatekeeping. RFD isn't any one thing; it's whatever each user wants it to be.

No it's not. You must be new here... this forum is about all kinds of deals and savings in general

If there are no current hot deals in the flyer, then Costco is the place to go.

I was simply replying to the poster who said a lot of things are more expensive at Costco, which isn't really the case unless you're strictly talking about the flyer deals.

Also, that's just simply not true. Ground beef/pork/turkey, boneless pork shoulder/belly, chicken thighs/legs/wings, fish, are some examples of meats that are cheaper at Costco even when compared to the best flyer deals at a regular grocery store

Costco's prices on fresh groceries like produce and meat are usually higher quality than other retailers', hence the higher price. Like Hawk25 said, they at least don't try to rip you off with their regular pricing.

And sometimes their discounts can be quite good. I have a massive ground pork chub in my freezer that was bought for $4/kg.

What? I was replying to @elkabong and not you!

You just defended me in your previous post lol

Also, I was saying that RFD is for all kinds of deals, not just the best and hottest... Perhaps you misread what I wrote

I picked 2 packs up earlier today. Seems like there is a limit of 2 packs per family. Each pack contained two larger-sized steaks.
