Mice entering house through sump pump hose

Is it possible for mice to enter a house through the sump pump hose that pumps water to the front lawn?

Not likely but they might be attracted to the water. More likely through some gap maybe were the hose exits or somewhere in your structure. Try some gap foam and maybe a screen over the hose end.

Rule of thumb is if you have holes in your foundation or at your doors and windows, etc. of even just 1/4", mice can get in.

I would have guessed 1/2", but nope, it's just 1/4". As in 6 mm.

How old is your house? Pretty much any older house is almost guaranteed to have holes that big, unless it's been fixed after the fact.

Most sump pumps will have a check valve on the discharge and there's always water trapped in the vertical section of pipe
