I think its a good deal considering recent prices of all items.
It was once on sale for $150 at Costco store in 2019, and believe that's the lowest.
most common sale price before 2019 used to be $170.

Thank you

The misses who uses industrial equipment says this would probably not be able to do that. Maybe if it’s thin leather. But you’d want something more heavy duty.

Was considering this since January. But apparently- once in a blue moon there is a 40% off coupon. The 30% off is quite often at Michael’s fyi.

Singer sewing machines are generally so good and work almost for eternity. The problem, though, is the customer care and service of the company here.

Had an expensive machine purchased here years ago, needed a replacement for a broken piece inside(workwear). Took them a month to see what was that piece and unable to find and order to be fixed. Got the piece model number and asked a friend commuting between Turkey & here to get it. Took to the local sewing machine service store and he fixed it since it was out of warranty. :)

It will with the right needle used, also depends how thick the leather is.

So which model is the best in in terms of price performance ratio as well as longevity, as if I am buying a sewing machine, I want it to be used for a long time and not planing to upgrade anytime soon. There is a $110 model, as well as $400 model, what is the general consensus of which model to buy?

My wife wanted a simple mechanical home sewing machine and the Singer 44xx series seem to be the best bang for dollar currently.
It replaced a 10 yr old $50 Walmart Singer that still works. It just didn’t have enough power to go thru thicker / layers of material. The 44xx models are popular and a ton of how to youtube videos.
Also the Janome HD3000 is a good choice but 3x the price.

I have had the Singer 4411 heavy duty for 10 years (paid $90 on amazon.ca back then). It’s very robust, I use it for easy things like hemming, but also for work on a sailboat including canvas. My model is very simple, but I’m not quilting and don’t need fancy patterns. I appreciate that it works reliably every time I use it

the strap is not thick... it's the head strap for my mask

The 4452 model comes with 10 extra needles in different sizes. Should be good.

If people are looking for a workhorse sewing machine that can punch through most materials (including leather), look at some of the old (and I do mean old) machines like the Singer 15-91 or the 201 with the potted motor. These machines can be over 70 years old but they are simple to operate and simple to repair. With a potted motor, it's a direct drive machine so no belts to slip and all of the motor's power is transferred to the machine.

A decent used machine can be had for under $100 if you are lucky. One that might need a bit of work to fix (ie rewiring the motor) might be free...
