Michelin Primacy 3, brand new but made in 2018

Hi

I found someone that has 4 brand new Michelin Primacy 3 and they are willing to sell it all for $550

Only issue is they are from 2018
And it has a Japanese tag on it (see photo) which seems strange.

The price of these tires online in my size are about $310 a tire (Canadian tire)

Are they still good even if their brand new but 3 years old? This is just for the summer I have a separate winter set

I need new tires ASAP because mine are worn out and one of them has a flat that's unrepairable so I might as well replace them all since it's AWD

Cambridge, ON/Guelph…
As long as they were stored properly, they should be fine.

Canada, Eh!!
Never seen other then English or French on tires' labels so does raise a flag.

Wouldn't all tires sold in Canada and bought by authorized reseller have E/F labels?

Did you ask where bought from?
2022/3: BOC raised 10 times and MCAP raised its prime next day.
2017,2018: BOC raised rates 5 times and MCAP raised its prime next day each time.
2020: BOC dropped rates 3 times and MCAP waited to drop its prime to include all 3 drops.

I ended up buying them

when I went to the address the seller gave It ended up being a store in Richmond hill called Joyroad tires

The link to Michelin tires on their site
https://www.joyroadtires.ca/product/pri ... mQQAvD_BwE

They sell them 199 each in their site but the owner gave me a cash deal 4 tires for 550.

Had them installed today

They said it has japanese tags because they bought them whole sale from Japan, old inventory from 2018.

They had a limited amount of Michelin tires and the rest were Joyroad. I was skeptical at first but I had them installed today by a mechanic and the ride is very soft and feels like how my Michelin winter tires feel in the winter. Nice and soft so I can't say anything bad just yet regardless of if their fake or not.

I don't think their fake, the mechanic I took them to for install didn't think they were fake either.

BS on wholesale from Japan. Looking at their Joyroad certification page they buy wholesale tires from China and those Michelins are Made in China as well which old stock tossed into the same container heading to canada. :) I don't have a thing for Made in China tires but the BS story smells too much.

Can you post the full DOT number if printed on the tire? What country is it printed "Made in" on the sidewall?

$550 is a heck of a deal versus $1200 comparing thesame tire Made in the Michelin USA factory. Tires from Chinese brands tend to be crap but I have not head of issues with tires Made in China from a reputable brand like Michelin. It still be made to a higher standard.

My guess is that these Michelin tires were made for the Chinese market but ended up being old unsold stock that the shop bought for cheap. Personally I wouldn't take the chance you don't want to be rolling the dice with tires.

Don't sweat too much about it. I'd worry more about the car being a Hyundai than the tires being potentially from China.

Looks fine to me, the tire's definitely imported though (which again, isn't much to worry about)
