Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences - 2018 Admissions

Hi everyone!

Here is another thread for Michener's 2018 admissions. I've been reading the past years admissions and I haven't seen one yet for this year.

I applied to the U of T Radiation Therapy joint program! Any other radth applicants???? A lot of people I talk to have never heard of the program.

I know a handful of people personally that have gone and come back pretty easily. You just need to complete a bunch of board exams and depending on the province you want to work in there are certain other requirements. There is also a bridge ing program that you can do that u of T offers that helps you get liscensed in Canada. It's the IPG program.

Hey everybody, applied for respiratory therapy, MLS, and Ultrasound.

Do you guys think it is a waste if I got my Bsc and then decided to go into MLS or respiratory therapy? I see that you can get into these programs right out of highschool

No, it's fine. However, there is only one person in last year's entering class that had just a high school education. Everyone else had a bachelor's degree.

I feel your pain. ultrasound at other colleges (except michener) dont require degree which makes me think it was a waste for me but like Kpanopto said, youll probably be able to better do the program because you have experience doing science related post secondary school work life. keep it positive haha

Thank you! I have a 3.1 cGPA. However, a lot of things influence admissions. The MMI is a big one. They also try to have each years cohort within a few percent of each students GPA. There are lots of variables and GPA in my opinion isn’t extremely important as it is worth a small portion of what they evaluate as a whole for admissions. Did you apply this year?

Unless stated, and at least for RT, your GPA does not affect your admission (talked directly to Admission at michener). GPA is just needed for cut off line - admission itself is 50/50 Highschool mark and MMI. But funny enough, except one girl everyone else had their bachelor for last year’s admission

Hello everyone!

I have also applied to Michener for 2018 but just for the Medical Laboratory Science program. I already got accepted into St. Lawrence and Cambrian for their MLS program but there doesn't seem to be any active threads for those schools... I'm leaning towards Lawrence currently, even if I do get into Michener, as I kind of want to live outside of Toronto right now. Decisions, decisions.

Anyways, good luck to everyone! Hope you all get at least a MMI invite!

It depends on how well you do on your MMI. Only 50% of the decision comes from your grades, other 50% is from MMI.
