Hot deal indeed. Just be sure to give the screen a good inspection on delivery - lots of complaints (SlickDeals/Reddit) about dim and yellow-tinted displays.

The funny thing is I thought I had a dim/yellow display but my son realized I had nightshift on, it reduced the white light to yellow for less eyestrain before sleeping.

Umm, awesome deal OP. Thanks! I picked up two for two friends that need laptops. One has been using his laptop from 2006. It sounds like a jet at all times and has died around 5 or 6 times and I've been stuck fixing it every time.

wicked laptop, bought one for black friday then had MS do a price adjustment for ~$60 for this latest deal. Installed an additional 1tb HDD and have been super happy!

How's the active pen? Comparable to Surface Pro/iPad Pro?

How did you get the adjustment done, they are telling me they won't do it until it is in stock online, which I think is unfair.

Most people got the price adjustment while the unit was in stock. Microsoft employees were working late even on Christmas which was quite impressive.

that really sucks. it was pretty painless for me i just gave them my order number and they asked me to wait for a minute and then they credited me the difference. sucks about the stock issue, it is kind of unfair if you ask me. you still bought the damn thing which is now cheaper.

for those wondering, since i've been getting alot of messages, here is the info on the HDD upgrade i did.

I bought this hard drive from Canada Computers for less than $60:
ST1000LM048 Seagate HDD (1TB, 5400 RPM, 128MB cache, 2.5", 7mm height)

It was super easy to install just be careful with all the tiny screws as they are REALLY small and although I was careful I still ended up losing one.
There is a metal bracket in place in the 2.5" bay that is just a place holder. you take the whole thing out, unscrew the placeholder metal from the bracket, and then screw the hard drive into the bracket.

you can get a complete walkthrough here at this page (scroll right down - description is bottom post of page 1)

I went to Calgary Chinook store and they said they sold out =(

But tbh I feel like the rep I spoke with was probably not even sure. She didn't even bother to check lol

If it doesn't come back in stock by Jan 03, I will buy the i7 model. Even if it goes on sale again, I doubt it will be anywhere near $600.
