[Microsoft Store] Huawei Matebook X Pro i5/i7 (1349$/1574$)

Hey so this is not exactly a big deal; however, this laptop has been out of stock for over the last week so, it is quite hot imo. This laptop has a lot going for it and it is at quite a reasonable price with the education discount at microsoft store. You can get the i5 version for 1349.10 and the i7 version for 1574.10. The i7 version is a no brainer imo since you get double the ram and storage plus you also get a dedicated graphics card. Huawei has fit a lot in a small form factor and it also has that cool camera under the key so that is a plus too. I've been eyeing laptops/ultrabooks for a while and this one looks like it fits the bill for me.

Edit 1: Student discount seems to be unavailable atm
Edit 2: Users have reported being able to get on a waitlist before June 11 and being eligible for a 300$ giftcard
Edit 3: It seems like they are getting a batch of i7's on the 21st of June

This is a very nice laptop, but I question whether the Nvidia GPU is even necessary for this class of laptops. Apparently noise is a bit of an issue. The Nvidia GPU isn't particularly fast and I'm not sure whether the extra performance gain is worth the potential heat and noise issue. I think Huawei should have just stuck with the integrated Intel GPU.

Great laptop.

The graphics card is not VR ready, outside of that lie, it's a respectable machine.

No doubt Huawei makes some great products. Google enlisted them for some phone hardware. Unfortunately it seems many companies are following in Apple's footsteps by putting a huge logo or brand smack in the middle of the laptop lid. If you're an Apple fan maybe you enjoy that. If you're not into the brand and just looking for quality hardware then you probably don't care for advertising to the world what make/model you have. Especially when everyone starts asking you how to pronounce Huawei.

Forget worrying about individual devices...considering the same company is behind much of the wireless telecom infrastructure in this country, I think it's more a matter of go big or go home...
