[Microsoft Store] Lenovo Y720 i7 7700 256gb SSD 8gb RAM GTX 1060 6gb -- $1199

For gaming the GPU will make more of a difference. The dell comes in a nice form especially in white and blue. Dell has a nicer screen too. But that GTX 1060 is so powerful compared to the 1050TI (max q?).
VR Ready Laptop

• 15.6-inch Full HD display
• Intel Core i7-7700HQ
• 8GB memory/256GB SSD
• VR-ready NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6gb graphics
• Compatible with Windows Mixed Reality headsets

$1199

Good value for money.

Pretty warm.

Lenovo Mixed Reality Headset

$299

Total cost for both = $1498

Folks, take a run at this machine if you want mobile gaming with full VR support.

You're not gaining FPS paying hundreds more for the i7 8750h builds, if gaming is your main use, this is the best value for money out there.

God speed.

Thanks for the quote. This is a great deal. I have been checking high and low, refreshing RFD constantly trying to find something better but nothing comes close.

I actually got this with the VR headset for $1300. But sold it off. Contemplating buying it back.

BTW, the unidays is not a code, it works like ebates. You use their portal to go into MS store. Regardless, the discounts does not apply to this laptop.

Keep posting laptop deals RFDers!

UNiDAYS doesn't give codes for the Canadian Microsoft Store. They have their own student discounts.

UniDays supports MS Store, but it's a walkthrough access, so you can't pair it with eBates it looks like.

You don't need to go through UNiDAYS to get Microsoft's student discount. So in theory, it should work with Ebates.

The student discount is a Microsoft specific discount separate from UniDays.

Unfortunately, UniDays doesn't seem to work on this laptop. eBates 5% off may work though.

People can confirm as they order.

Not sure how UNiDAYS works for Microsoft then. All their link seems to do is redirect to the page for Microsoft's student discount.

This may be the best deal short of BST or Black Friday. Both the headset and laptop are selling for large discounts.

With or without additional discounts.

Yeah this is really a great laptop. Been using it to play overwatch and csgo. I've got mine with the Samsung Odyssey bundled for $100 more.

According to notebookcheck, you should get between 52 and 59 FPS on high setting and between 27 and 29 FPS on Ultra

Damn this game is pretty demanding... 40FPS in ultra requires a laptop with a GTX 1070 and that's almost $2,000

Anyone test the cooling on this thing? That and the battery would be the biggest concerns imo.

Cooling is excellent. Has a full fan speed shortcut that is handy. Works well with throttlestop if that's your thing.

Battery isnt terrible but of course the gpu is a pig.

Does have a "save your battery" mode that keeps the charge below 60% to extend the life of the battery.

How does the feature work? Is it a setting in Windows or an hardware option enabled through keyboard shortcuts?

Love this laptop. Got it as part of the VR bundle. Does VR fine, laptop is quick. Careful thought - the laptop is heavy and built like a tank (which I happen to like).

Currently gaming on a similar specs but different machine. Turning the turbo boost off with ThrottleStop nets me a good 10c difference in the CPU.
That i7-7700HQ gets hot pretty fast....
The gaming impact is hardly noticeable.
