Unless you're doing some activity like Lightroom, I think 4k is overkill for a 13inch screen. 1080 is my go to for performance, battery life, scaling and light gaming.

Whoa, the 4k model for this price is crazy. The 4k models normally cost like 1600+ People are complaining about the wrong stuff... the 4k screen is huge for content creation and this price is litterally top tier for that resolution, the only alternative is a surface, which is about the same price.

Edit- turns out this doesn't have pen support...
Does anyone know if any Dell 4k models actually have pen support? Really mad, was so ready to grab this, but that ruins it completly.

For a Dell XPS, this is a pretty hot deal.

Most people don't need more than 128GB hard drive space. Most files are on the cloud these days and unless you're doing video or photo editing, you don't really need the space.

This is a great price.

I agree, that 4k might be too much for such a small laptop, I definitely prefer 1080p as well, but this price is HOT.

Let's be honest here, are professional content creators actually going to spend 8 hours everyday working on a small 13.3" screen to do all their work on? Seems doubtful. Most content creators that I know use something along the lines of a 15" MacBook Pro or XPS 15 as a mobile device and a separate desktop with a large monitor(s) or an iMac to do most of their work on.

This has been on at this price for 2 weeks. Two weeks ago the 1TB & 32GB RAM version was in stores too at 1,800.

Edit: I meant the XPS 15 (now out of stock).

XPS 13 is the equivalent to the Macbook Pro of the windows world, $1049 for a 4k XPS 13 is by far the best XPS 13 deal in a long time.

This is LAVA HOT!!!

I paid $1200 for the 1080p 9360 in 2016 and just to achieve that I had to stack multiple coupon codes, this is really an incredible deal.

Laptops are for portability. If you're a real content creator, you should probably have an actual desktop at home thus power isnt important. Personally, I'd rather carry a small 13" laptop over a 15". That's 2.8ish lb vs 4.3 lb which is a pretty notable difference. And having used 1080p screens on laptops exclusively up until now, I refuse to buy a new laptop without a higher resolution. Current laptop is a Lenovo 14 with 6th gen, and I'd like to upgrade the screen as its just not enough. (1440p would be way better as a compromise, but for some reason, that was never a trend) But things like photoshop are flat awful in 1080p for me. My tablet display is 1440p, and I use 4k on my main, so dropping to 1080p just feels like I can't fit enough stuff on my screen.

I want a drawing laptop for taking out with me, so active pen support is also required, which atm my options are super limited for high res+pen and nice portability. Guess surface will remain the best option that isn't 2k, like the HP spectre/Lenovo with those features. Dells 13 XPS- 2-1 is $3000 LOL

Great deal if the 8GB works for you. SSD is replaceable and i7 is barely any jump in performance due to thermal constraints.

Easily upgradeable, personally I'd rather save money upfront with a small SSD and upgrading to fit my needs, 1TB nvme can be had for under $200.

$1050 is a deal for this model, I had a 2015 XPS 13 and build quality was top notch.

Wish it wasn't 8gb ram. The ram is soldered for XPS13, but the SSD can be upgraded.

The 4K screen is really nice, but don't expect great battery life.

I just picked up an Inspiron 15 4k with a Nvidia MX150 card that not only has pen support but also comes with the pen. It was $850 from newegg US: previous generation with an i7 8350 CPU (current gen has I think i7-8365 or something).

Solid aluminum case, 2 in 1. It's superb for that price.
