Nice price, optics are best in class with high res, AMOLED, minimal god rays / SDE.

I have an OG Rift which gets by, but point to Odyssey when people want the best headset for movies / media in VR. Good built-in headphones as well.

Ebates yes but Unidays it has to be regular price only:
Education discount is not combined with other promotional pricing. Available in Microsoft online store in CA. Some purchases are only available for higher education students, and may require additional eligibility verification and confirmation at checkout to complete your order. Offer only valid on select products. Limited quantities may be available. Not valid on prior orders or purchases; cannot be transferred or otherwise redeemed for cash or coupon code. Not combinable with other offers. Taxes may apply. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. False representations of eligibility voids this offer, and Microsoft reserves the right to collect the full price of product(s) ordered. Limit of 5 items per order. Bulk orders not valid and may be cancelled. If you purchase an auto-renewal subscription (i.e. Office 365) at a discounted price through the Microsoft Education Store, the subscription will renew at the full price.

this is frequently $399, and at that price it is surely the sweet spot of VR. for $150 more the rift s basically gets nicer controllers and software compatibility

Had one. Hated it. Returned it.
- extension cable issues
- trash tier controllers

Was original Oculus owner. Instead got Rift S.
Was much better for my setup.

I was looking at getting a PSVR for my son for his birthday but I heard that it will be updated. The screen on this Samsung looks pretty great. Any advice from people that have a PSVR and this, which should I get? I have a GTX 1080 in the computer so i should be good for this Samsung.

Thanks

Awful controllers and spotty limited controller tracking. Resolution is deceptive since it's pentile, which means it's only 2/3 of the stated resolution but still demands the full PC hardware performance as with non-scamfraudripoff proper RGB panels.

Fair buy if you're mainly interested in seated games. Flight sims, etc.

Not sure where you heard about the 2/3 resolution thing. It is way more clear than my vive.
