[Microsoft Store] Xbox Series X $599 with RBC/Ampli $70 Cashback

It's available on the Microsoft website, you don't have to pick the bundle anymore.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/d/xbox- ... verviewtab

RBC online banking in "offers for you" has the 50$ statement cashback, I think everyone should have it if you have a credit card/bank account with them.

Ampli offers an additional $20

If you can find them at shoppers with points that's better, but this takes away the tax basically, good deal nonetheless

1% back on consoles only. But $76 back on an Xbox Series X is probably the best deal to date.

An Xbox plus Game Pass Ultimate (especially if you maximize the sign-up offer to get 3 years of discounted GPU per the existing RFD thread) is really one of the best deals in gaming right now.

Good deal. Couple that with the Xbox live to Ultimate Gamepass 36 month conversion and you are set for gaming.

Any word of a refreshed xbox? At this point i dont think i can pull the trigger on a console out this long. I am hoping for a smaller version with more storage.

Do we have currect manufacturing numbers on the XSX? Just talking straight numbers, units sold: PS5 has sold more unit.

The availability of XSX does not, by itself, mean that Sony is not producing and selling.

Oh sure you can! That’s just slacking.

It is a lot. I think for me I’m just overwhelmed with the options and can never pick. I have an xsx, PS5 and switch oled, currently playing Forbidden West. Which is incredible.

Absolutely not anytime soon.

The One X was a response to the weak AF Xbox One and was started almost immediately and took 3 years to hit the market

Xbox Series X was a smash hit out the door and in this world of chip shortages, no way either MS or Sony will be refreshing anytime soon. Both the XSX and PS5 are beasts and games aren't even maxing them out yet.

Not sure what you mean by "out so long"...it released in November 2020...16 months ago...

I may be wrong but in the past new consoles always had something wrong with them which made companies make newer versions that solved those issues. AFAIK these new console didn't have any real issues with them so I agree that we won't be seeing any new models of them any time soon due to what you mentioned and also due to there not being a "need" for the companies to do so.

It's literally only been out for a year and a handful of months. Don't play the waiting game. The technology, cost, and availability of parts isn't at a point where we will see a significant improvement in performance or storage without a bump in price and to make it worth, imo. The logical step would be to bump storage from 1TB to 2TB but based on the cost of PCIe 4.0 SSDs, it's unlikely. Moving to 6nm process may allow some cost savings and maybe some size reduction, maybe, but for a console that already sells at a loss (and I'm sure the Series S sells for an even greater loss), it's clear the push is to just get the consoles out so that people will buy Game Pass. Long story short, it's likely not worth the wait. The current rumours are that Series S will be refreshed first with slightly improved performance and a lower price point to be even more competitive against PS5 and push out more Game Pass subs.

Storage isn't a problem. Just buy an external SSD of your choosing. It won't be able to run Series X games but it's plenty of storage for many non-Series X games + temporary holding for Series X games. It takes about 5-6 min to transfer games between drives. I have 10 games currently on my internal drive which is way more games than I routinely cycle. The added hard drive is just a big optional convenience.

If you don't have a console, get the console that makes the most sense to you now, if you intend on starting. If you have an existing last generation console perhaps excluding the One X, the new ones come with a whole slew of benefits that make sense to upgrade now. If you have a One X (which I came from), it may make sense to wait unless you have a serious TV setup that takes advantage of 120hz and VRR. Games on One X still look very, very good. The main difference is that Series X can capably take a lot of those very good looking games and run them at a stable 60fps.

With Game Pass you can play on the cloud on your Xbox, PC, phone, or tablet, making hard drive space to install games less important.

I had a One X and really enjoyed it, but the SSD and Quick Resume make a world of difference. I played Outriders when it came out on the One X and while the loading wasn't egregious, it was noticeable. On the Series X it's almost instant.

You're not wrong, this is why I'm waiting as well (in addition to school and other priorities). I've been burned nearly every time I purchased the launch version of a new console from Sony or Microsoft.

Not even just refreshed/redesigned models like the slims, but sometimes even simple internal chip changes like Jasper on Xbox 360 that are done, and sometimes harder to tell unless looking at serial and model numbers, etc.

Nothing wrong with buying now if it's your jam, but if you're not in a rush, nothing wrong with waiting either - it'll only get better as any issues get identified and worked out with the initial runs.

Although I have to say this time, Sony and MS seem to have taken heat and noise more seriously than in previous consoles, so that's good to see.

Yeah both are very well built this go around due to past screw ups lol.

Microsoft is determined to never have a Red Ring of Death scenario again (I went through two X360 claims) and likely won't as all their hardware, even beyond games, since then has been extremely well made...

...along with Sony, who heard loud (heh) and clear the complaints about the PS4 and Pro coil whine (mine sounded literally like a leaf blower at times).

All that is confirmed changed so far is PS5 has had a minor revision with absolutely zero changes in game performance. All they did was reconfigure the heat pipes and heat sink (prob for efficiency and cost reduction).

A friend of mine said the cloud will kick you for being idle though and I read online that if you're idle for 3-5 minutes the game will close. That would be super annoying if I was grabbing a snack and came back and wasn't in the game anymore and possibly lost progress due to it not saving or something.
