Miele espresso coffee maker $800 off with $299 coffee purchase

Deal Link:
Price:
699
Savings:
$800(*)
Expiry:
May 28, 2020
Retailer:
Miele.ca
Miele has this promotion where if you buy 20 250g bags of their Black Edition coffee (for $299) with a coffee maker, you get $800 off the price of one so the base CM5300 which lists for $1,499 drops down to $699.

The 20 bags of coffee will run you $299 for 5 Kg which is a bit overpriced (well over $25/lb).

I guess if you have your heart set on one it might be a good deal. I think I will stick with my fleet of Bialettis.

There might be promotion codes with the Miele Live broadcasts.

This seems like a really good deal. I have the version one up from this machine and would have loved this price a few years ago when I was in the market. Oh well. Thanks, OP.

The 6150? How are you finding reliability?

This deal is kind of stupid, why make you buy so much coffee for a high end machine if its probably gonna be all stale by the time you get to it. If you prepaid for 20 bags now and they shipped you like 5 bags at a time as you requested or gave you an account with a 20 bag credit or something that would be better.

Not saying that some people can’t finish 20 bags in a reasonable amount of time, but I would assume the majority of people can’t . The heaviest coffee drinkers I know finish about a pound of unground beans a week, but there is a fair bit of waste and they have a serious coffee problem.

Still upvoted the OP, thanks for the deal.

The special is for 3 models. When you buy 20 bags of coffee you can get the following:
CM 5300 (Graphite Grey) for $699
CM 6150 (Obsidian Black or Graphite Grey) for $1,199
CM 6350 (Graphite Grey) for $1,699

Really, it is $500 off, or actually, it should be $500 off + tax on $299 (since that's food) but Miele is charging tax on the coffee. I'd call in and ask for the amount to be adjusted (should be $35,88 less in B.C.)

I would think a machine like this more so intended to be in an office and not someone's house.

That's my main concern with any automated coffee maker. Some poor reviews on Amazon though some are poorly written to be able to figure out what is the issue.

You'd be surprised what some people have in their homes. The Miele built-in coffee machines (not a new thing) starts at $4,599.

Nice thing about the Philips owned brands like Saeco, Gaggia .... you can get parts very cheap and fix it your self.

This is not meant for heavy commercial use by any means.

They have a built in model that does Nespresso. I think it was $2000+ as opposed to just a few hundred for a top end Nespresso Creatista.

I'm just going to assume people are paying the premium because it looks nice. Basically same thing as Bang & Olufsen. Good product, not exceptional, but doubles as home "decor".

I guess cheaper automatic machines look kind of... well... cheap.

If you really want to have a machine that doubles as decor, get yourself a nice lever model.

Example: Europiccola

Or: Stradivari

Steep learning curve, you have to actually make your coffee but it is very satisfying, you don't have to hear a loud pump going, and the coffee tastes better. A lot more control on your shot.

Saeco has gone downhill since it was bought out by Philips.

They do not allow returns for expresso maker at Miele - lots of fight to return one 2 years ago ( smelled and tasted like plastic)

Interesting to see that the Miele CM 5300 is now $300 off at Costco, were it currently sells for $1199.

Your observation or you found some stats?
In my experience most problems people complain about are caused of poor maintenance and poor bean selection.
The machine will tolerate it for while but then it will bite you in the a** :)
Parts in these didn't change much for over 10 years.
