Miniso store closing at 841 Granville near Robson. (Note: this isn't the one at Granville between Dunsmuir and Pender). Current discount level is 40% off everything. I suspect the coming days, it could get higher. Also looks like various locations across Canada are shutting down too.

At the moment (Friday afternoon), there's still a lot of headphones, backpacks, phone cases and the usual plethora of random household goods.

That location opened less than a year ago. This brand is so bizarre to me - Dollarama quality misc items at higher prices, and a strange assortment of audio products (headphones, sound bars, etc) at an awkward price point that don't sound good.

Also, why would there be any need to discount anything if there are at least 10+ other identical Minisos within a 30 min drive of that store? Why can't the stock be distributed to other stores?

Same goes for the Galeries D’Anjou one. Wonder if all of them are closing or there’s some major restructuring going on. There’s little left in the store though. Definitely slim pickings.

This is so strange. I thought they were planning on expanding? They just opened their Metrotown location.

Miniso was amazing when I lived in China (I was working overseas) but the ones in Canada don't compare. Things were $1-2CAD in China and here, it's all like $5. I'd rather to go Dollarama or Dollar Tree for cheap goods that are made in China. lol

Miniso is a Chinese company, not a Japanese one.

It’s a Chinese store trying to be Japanese. Pretty sure they will all close down within a year or 2. Garbage products at not even cheap pricing.

they want you to think the store is a Japanese chain ("founded in Tokyo"), with low priced Japanese designed items. It's basically a counterfeit Muji/Daiso store
RFD is not just about saving money, it's about the thrill of the hunt and not paying full price like Joe Shmoe did. This applies to everyday items as well as high end items that I don't really need.

When I wanted to return a defective item to another location, they required that I take it back to the original store of purchase. I was told by their customer service that, due to the ownership structure of their stores, some are investor-owned.

I think the Canadian licencee of Miniso did a poor job of bringing it here, so the Chinese parent companies have taken it back and are now making corrections.

I noticed recently the Daiso in Aberdeen Center and Yokoyaya in Intl Village rebranded to Oomomo. I'll choose Daiso over Miniso anyday for the same price pt.

The quality of the stuff is worse than the dollar shop. Had a power bar literally melt and start smoking.

It's not a rebrand per se. Daiso products are now distributing through Oomomo (owned by the same people that owns the Chinese Fairchild TV and Radio stations)

I'm surprised tbh. We just had a Miniso open within a Walmart(newly renovated) here in Toronto. Though I highly doubt it would last long. St. Claire & runnymede.
