Mobile: New Browse Bar, Will You Use It?

I know we just added this to RFD, but I'm just curious, as a forum user, will you be using the "Browse" that is on top of every page now?

Is this for back to school?

(The bar currently says:
4KTV Headphones Laptop Printer Asus Vacuum Detergent Refrigerator Washing Machine Canon

See it but have absolutely no use for it. Waste of screen real estate but at least it's better than he pop up ads that were on the bottom.

+1. I see absolute no use for it. I only use the forums part of the website. They should link it to forum posts for those categories.

A customizable quick nav for forums would be cool to have there.

Good question. Let me try to find that out.

Thank you for your thread and comment. My long term goal at RedFlagDeals is to find a product path where we can blend features and revenue seamlessly. The Browse tab (that is found at the top of the screen on mobile devices) is a step in the direction of gauging what the community is seeking from the product. In simple terms, we are testing features.

I am happy and open to reading your suggestions and comments.

It's the only thing I use, really. Just how I visit RFD (outside my home, not at work) and I don't like running the app because of battery usage, prefer a website.

I use it a lot too (admin/mod functions are mostly unavailable via the apps). I think it's a general consensus that the bar goes mostly unused from forum regulars. I did find out the following:

- It's a test
- The menu bar items are based off popular pages
- It could be changed to serve up other content instead
- It could be modified to be hidden to logged in users (like the anchor ad)

i don't find it very useful and worse it pushes the real content (the forum threads) even further down. Right now the entire screen on my phone is just white space and tons of navigation but no content, necessitating scrolling.
We're all in this together. Be kind and civil with one another
