Model difference Subaru Impreza 2014 vs 2015

Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a used Subaru Impreza and I've found two models.. 2014 : Limited 5-Door+S/R+NAVI and 2015 : 2.0i Premium PZEV 4-Door

Is there a significative change between the 2014 and 2015 models apart from the trim options ? There's only 9 month separating the two cars from when they've been serviced.

How does it work for the update of the maps system (2014 one)

Which model give me more for the price if we pretend they're in the same condition mechanically.

I'm trying to decide which one to send to an independant garage for inspection.

Thank you for your time

Overall the value from the 2014 Limited 5-door will have more value because the Limited model is the top of the line unit. Premium PZEV...IIRC that was the equivalent of the Touring so its not the base but close to that. Main differences will actually be down to the stereo system, the 2015 does have the more modern unit with better media functionality as this was the largest change between the 2 model years. Truth be told, neither stereo system is that great, this was a Subaru weakness during this period of time and support for those units is unfortunately weak. Likely to update the 2014 nav unit the Subaru dealer is likely your best option.

Realistically, don't get too caught up between 2014 and 2015... other than some minor trim differences, an different ECU, different infotainment system, and some more sound deadening - the real decision needs to be 'do you want a 4 door or a hatch?' first and then be happy with what each offered.

If pricing is the same, I'd prefer the 2014 Limited. Was about to get one but just didn't want to shell out the $$$

The 2014 is actually cheaper and more " bargainable". I'm leaning that way! It's return of a lease and it's not a package that attract young driver so the mechanic should be fine..

FYI... I have a 2015 Impreza. Touring with Eyesight. Still under lease. about 36,000 KM.
I'd be willing to let you take over the lease. (I want to upgrade to a crosstrek). Nothing at all wrong with the vehicle. I love it, except it isn't a crosstrek....

It is, however a sedan. Never been in any sort of collision.

In Kingston Ontario.

2014 Impreza map update is done via dealer on that model, it's a Fujitsu HU. It's about $200 USD.
2015 IIRC is micro SD and Subaru has map downloads free for three years.

Thank you for the offer but I'm not looking into a lease and you kind of far from me :)

If you plan to jettison the stock stereo system anyways Crutchfield is a very good site to help you plan that out even if you don't buy from them. Here they provide instructions how to, in a way, DIY the entire Impreza's sound system with both pre-2015 units and the later 2015-2016 ones. Assuming nobody made a mess of the stereo system previously, I learned that the hard way with my 2004 Impreza.

https://www.crutchfield.ca/S-baWrTAhMCV ... preza.html

If you add the car to their vehicle selector it will provide you a list of things you can do which are compatible with the specific car. Then you can plan the sound system that way.
