Montreal to Wasaga road trip suggestions.

So we rented a little cottage in Wasaga beach this summer (first week of August). Unfortunately, I only rented it for 4 days (and it's all booked up now) but would like to extend our stay in Ontario. Any suggestions on anything else we can hit on our way back to Montreal. Maybe a couple of nights stay. We'll have our 6 month old puppy with us, so preferably something outdoorsy.

Outdoor activities in Algonquin Park, Finger Lakes, 1000 Islands

Edit: not Finger Lakes, but Kawartha Lakes area. The nearby Trent-Severn Locks might be interesting too.

Think you meant Muskoka Lakes, Kawartha Lakes, or Rideau Lakes & Waterway

Cuz THE Finger Lakes are in upstate NY in Ontario County … and not in Ontario Canada

Other places also worth exploring … come August
PE County - Kingston - Ottawa & The National Capital Region - The St Lawrence Seaway, the Lost Villages, & Upper Canada Village

I think it's a blessing you only booked 4 days. Wasaga went down the drain pretty fast, you will have enough after first night.

You mean you don't like obnoxious tourists clogging up everything and not following quarantine rules while acting like everyone should bow to them for bringing money to the economy? Or how bout the huge backlog of traffic when idio.... i mean enthusiasts clog up the streets around the beach for nothing more than showing off their whip?

Wasaga Beach is amazing from September to June. July & August are a train wreck.

Yeah, I hear you. I booked on a whim because I remembered some girl from work saying it was cool (just to realize that she was 20 years old and probably went there just to party and get ripped). We didn't want to leave our young puppy at the kennel his year so we jumped on the opportunity when we saw a cottage that accepted dogs and beaches where we can bring our pup.

There are many lovely ones along the way

Blue Mountain nearish Wasaga has a mini 'Whistler' ski town vibe. Also plenty of hiking trails for your doggy.

The Big Apple in Colborne, Ontario is kinda fun/kitchy. They also have an offleash area there for your pup.

Kingston is a beautiful city. They have a free ferry to Wolfe Island . You can walk aboard or drive on (no charge)

We liked exploring Trent University, neat brutalist architecture and the locks in Peterborough. You can rent watercraft there and go right through the locks!

Depends on if you travel via Hwy 417/40 (via Ottawa) or 401/20 (via Toronto).
