How do they compare to the Eddie Bauer superior down parka?

Thanks OP. Bought one. Perfect urban jacket for the cold winter months

Nice looking jacket. Like the flexibility that it offers. The only thing missing for me would be pit zips but nice find.

I don't think this is worth it . 123 grams of 650 fill down is not enough for canadian winters. the EB superior down parka has almost 3x the amount of down (with the same fill weight), for example. So why not just get that jacket? Even the EB 3 in 1 has twice the amount of down, or the aritzia super puff has more down at a higher fill weight (700)

Nice find OP. These seem warm with 650 fill down.

I know MEC doesn't provide temperature ratings but any idea if this is good for -20C weather?

Considering between this and the Canada Goose Wyndham, but I have ethical issues with the coyote fur on the Goose jackets.

Also, these are listed as clearance. Any idea if they can be returned for refunds? Thanks!

Thank you OP! Bought the green, very sleek.

@ Azko, MEC has the best return policy/guarantee clearance is not excluded from returns.

Also, I dont think these items are necessarily "clearance" it seems like it's a special price until December 18th on the email blast I received. Just poor wording.

I am not familiar, but they both have a 650 down fill but the EB has more weight. The MEC jacket is still $50 cheaper though and the return/exchange policy is worth it, IMO. Especially for the west coast.

I think the benefit here over Eddie Bauer is that the product is can have multiple uses:

1) As a rain coat (without the down jacket insert)
2) Just the down jacket (without the rain shell)
3) Combination of both depending on the weather.

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but it does seem the EB 3 in 1 does the same thing? I'm debating getting the MEC one... never had an issue with one of their products. Though some pppl on RFD have commented on their declining quality over the years. At least the Powder Search 2.0 3-In-1 Down Jacket

Anyone able to provide fit pics? Sleeves look really wide and a bit sloppy. Can they be tightened?

Yep, I have had the powder search 3 in 1 for a year and really like it. Got it for around $200 on "sale"

I’m interested in both like you. I think they are different uses. The EB superior parka could be your warmest jacket for the coldest days. But it doesn’t have any layers or as great of versatility.

The MEC on the other hand is a great spring, fall and light to medium winter option.

I’m also torn. Really we should just buy both ;)

That EB superior parka looks hideous, like it came from the 90's. This one looks a lot more elegant.

+1.
The EB Powder Search 2.0 3-In-1 Down Jacket is also cut like a traditional ski jacket. This MEC coat is closer to 3/4 length and cut much slimmer. It looks waaaayyy nicer than either of those options. If I was looking for cheap, utilitarian and somewhat fashionable I’d buy this.
