These chain rings have a BCD of 130mm so they should be compatible with older Shimano cranks. Free shipping to store. It seems to be in stock in Ottawa.

I'm new to cycling. I'm using a bike that I bought used, in very good condition.

Do chain rings have a shelf life? Of course if the teeth are broken it needs replacing, but other than that? Or is this chain ring something special?

Nothing special, it's just metal. As long as they're dry, they won't rust or break down within your lifetime.

Chain rings do get worn out.

For noobs - chain rings at not universal. You need to make sure this fits your crank.

Not true. Depends on the material, and how much it is used.
Basically, the heavier it is, the longer it lasts.
A steel chain ring would likely last your life, whereas an aluminum one might not.

He asked what the "shelf life" is, not how long they last when being used.
