moving to another province with a financed car. (ON to AB)

I am moving to Alberta at the end of the year. I have a financed car which i am still paying for.

Do i need to adjust the tax if i bring the car to Alberta?
Will i get a tax break if i trade in my car in Alberta?
OR should i sell the car in ontario and buy another car in Alberta?

Thanks for your advise. thanks

I don't think you'd get a tax break on the remainder of the financing, but if you bought a new car in AB and then moved to another province you wouldn't have to pay for the PST portion.

Unless if you love your car, it might make more sense to get something new when you're in AB.

Canada, eh?
Been there done that. You won't get a tax break, you just won't get double-taxed (aka exemption) when you register your vehicle in AB.
You'd still be paying the financed amount that you signed up for originally in ON.

I'm supposed to be moving to BC later this year from ON and did consider buying a car in AB since from what I can tell, when registering it in BC, you have to have owned it at least 30 days.
I did also consider getting it right before leaving here but even the ICBC folks I spoke with said that while I'm likely to get the tax money waived/refunded, the law says you have to have owned it for 30 days, thus if buying on ON, I'd essentially be getting double taxed.
Anyways, I supposed if I bought in AB and had it in storage for a month (or 2 even), I'd be able to get around it, BUT the issue would be that I don't live in AB, it would make it a bit tough to get insurance there w/o an AB licence, which means I can register it.

A nice thought experiment, but really that's all it is unfortunately, but would love to hear about someone who managed to work around it though, but I admit it is a long shot.
