Yep, 5 paddles owners are actual brewers who originated from Durham Homebrewers Club, not lawyers
Little Beasts makes some great beers also....have some Run Santa Run in the fridge right now.
That said Brock Street has added a smaller fermentation set up to try smaller batches of beers, the Russian Imperial Stout just made I hear is excellent.

I always forget about going to see Erin at Little Beasts. She was the 5th Paddle with Ed and Spencer and the gang for a year or so - she did In Your Face.
I love a good RIS, might have to go get some.

No, it's not a mandatory tip nor is it tax. It's pure profit for the owner and a sneaky way to make the menu look cheaper than the competition.

doesn't matter to me, I just take 3% off the tip. The servers suffer for working at a place that has unscrupulous sales tactics... I do love their half priced apps after 9 though

Scarborough
Since I used to live in Oshawa (north) for several years and moved back to Toronto I still remember my go-to places. I tried to offer a little bit of different cultures.

Lately my go-to's out here have been:

Firehouse Subs
California Sandwiches
Fat Bastard Burrito
Buffalo Wild Wings
Butchie's
Five Guys
Krispy Kreme (in nearby West Hill, Scarborough)

Hopefully Chick-Fil-A opens out here soon....

I generally avoid:

halal places (why Butchies rules -- bacon gravy = freedom!)
Chinese McSushi (whether AYCE or not)
McSysco Bar and Grill (especially if owned by Recipe Unlimited - so that includes The Keg)
bubble tea (I don't "get it")
Friendly reminder #1: The Golden Arches fast food chain is McDonald's, not MacDonald's. Thank you for your attention.
Friendly reminder #2: Price matching is NOT the law. Never was, never will be. Nobody can stop you from shopping elsewhere.

Welcome to Durham OP :)

Here are my picks:

Italian/Pizza - Wally's Italian Eatery (Makes a Great Pizza as well with Wood burning oven)
Pizza - Marks Pizza's (Pickering so it's a bit of a drive)
Burger - Burger Factory
Afghan Food - Pamier Kabob (Next to Wally's Italian Eatery), Kabob Shoppe
Vegan Option - The Lil Organic Kitchen (Pricey but good food)

Recently opened in Whitby @ Thickson/Garrard (No Frills Plaza).
When you order you can pick from regular, medium and "Indian" spicy.
Last night we got the butter chicken medium and the channa masala Indian spicy. Freakin awesome.
Their pakora are more like pancake style (prefer the ones from Fine Taste)

I've been to Chatterpaul's which is on Brock Rd. Nice atmosphere and the food was good. It was a few years ago.
