MRI scan - private or quick(er) service Mississauga?

Does anyone know if there is a private clinic to get an MRI done in Mississauga or is the closest one in Buffalo?

Note, Ontario has very strict rules for private MRIs. You cannot pay for a private MRI in Ontario to reduce the wait time if it's for something that is an emergency or life-threatening (i.e. you can only jump the queue if it's not very important and not urgent!). Otherwise you have to go to the US where there are many clinics just across the border that do a lot of work for Canadians.

This site explains it relatively well (with some spelling mistakes):
http://www.axxessimaging.com/
Axxess Imaging does not accept OHIP referrals. Only MRIs of a non-emergent/non-life-threatening can be ordered under the third-party guidelines.

Under strict Ontario legislative guidelines we are unable to provide Ontario residents with a health card (OHIP) imaging services for any vital organs or previous known decease pathology. We are able to process all scans, with a few minor exceptions, for out of province/country patients.

And note the weird rules for Prostate MRI:
PROSTATE AND ELEVATED PSA
Axxess Imaging has recently received confirmation from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Health Services Branch that a MRI exam of the prostate for a patient with an elevated PSA level, who has not had a prior biopsy, is NOT an insured service covered by OHIP. Patients with an elevated PSA level who are at risk of developing prostate cancer are now able to pay privately for a prostate MRI.
[So you can pay for a private prostate MRI in Ontario if you have never had a biopsy done. But if you have had a biopsy, then you can't pay for a private MRI in Ontario].

Wow, that's good to know. For anyone interested, the rules are completely different in Quebec, and you can schedule pretty much any scan within days in the private system.

Further than Buffalo, but maybe you can make a pleasant trip to Montreal out of it.

If you do go to Buffalo, please update us on your experience (did you need a physician's referral, cost, experience, ...)
