MS Office apps for iOS

Does anybody know if there are ways to get word and excel to work (ie. be able to edit and save, synch to cloud) on iphone and iPad without having to purchase a 365 subscription?

You can use the app "Open Office", a substitute for Word and Excel .
Just make sure that after finishing the work, save the file in .doc or .xls
Otherwise, the file cannot be opened by others who may not have Open Office installed in their cell or desktop
