Finally a GTX 1070 at a reasonable price. I'd suggest subscribing to the auto-notify if you're interested in one.

Hoping this becomes the norm. Going to be building a new computer in a month or so and want to be able to get my hands on one of these without dropping more than 500 bucks.

GTX 1070 might not be what everyone needs, but for this price, definitely seem reasonable.

R480 is only a week or so away from being released, might be wise to wait just in case R480 was tough enough to force a 1070 price drop if you are not in a hurry. But I don't see any problem buying this. It will work for just about any game in the next few years for 1080p 144hz, or 1440p @ 60hz.

It's an awesome card, but I think NVIDIA had priced itself out for most pc gaming Canadians to spend $500+ on a video card for this generation.

Hopefully the upcoming RX 480 from AMD will be enough for most and won't disappoint at roughly $300 CAD price range for 4GB version.

Only 8GB will be available at roughly $360~ CAD for sometime. $300 4GB R480 will not be available for another few months.

Oh yeah? That sucks if true. I guess we'll see what happens. Most important right now is the benchmarks.

I'm a noob to PC gaming. A few months back, I bought a rig with a 6700k and a GTX 960 because I was told to wait for this generation of cards before dropping a lot on a GPU (I got a good deal with the 960)

I want something VR-capable, and was looking at the GTX 980 before deciding to wait it out. From what I read, the 1080 is most comparable to a 980ti, but what is the 1070 comparable to (performance, not price)? the 980?

Also, will I need to swap out my power supply, or are these similar to the 960 and 970 from last gen?

Sorry for all the questions.

AMD has never released benchmark until product became available. Don't look into any rumor right now. Since NDA is still in effect you won't see any real benchmark until 29th because the driver specifically for those video card are not even available yet.

Having said that, current rumor as it right between the performance of 970 and 980 in stock 1233 Mhz clock speed. Most of the rumorville debate is on how good it will OC, a lot of speculation put it at around 1450 mhz oc. Which means you are correct, we definitely need those benchmark.

These are more power efficient than GTX970, so if your current power supply work with 970 it will work with 1070.

1070's performance is at between 980 and 980ti. So yes, this will be VR ready.

I doubt they mark it up $50 USD. Will have to wait for nda to be up though, and see the other company variants.

I too am relatively new to building PCs, but I've done a lot of digging on the GPU side of things. Both the 1070 and 1080 are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the previous 900 series. There are currently no real comparables on the market as there is a substantial difference between the previous generation and the new generation. When I'm building my PC next month, I'll be picking up either the 1070 or 1080 - depends on what the prices are doing.

As for the power supply, it depends on what you currently have for a power supply. Just look up the wattage difference between the two cards and see what your current supply has to spare.

The 1070 is comparable to a 980ti as I'm pretty sure it beats a 980. The 1080 would be more comparable to a Titan x or 2 980's in a sli configuration.

I don't, as Canadian Computer, NCIX, and Neweggs all has leak regarding to pre-order being up to $380 already. It will drop after the initial heat but not for a month or to at the very least unless the supply of stock are very healthy.

Knowing AMD. Likely story.

I guess we will see. But I'm not keeping my hope up.

Indeed. It seems the 1070 might be the card Gotham wants, but the RX480 is the card they need.
