My car hood's locking mechanism is rusted - any fix?

I'd say that instead of that conclusion, it's probably just cheaper metal they used in that latching mechanism or some salt spray (or moisture) got up there somehow.

So imma scrub w steel wool, spray the parts and move/jiggle them, hopefully that'll do the trick to prevent future sticking.

Fluid film is basically what you'd want. You can spray it on any part that may rust.

If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Fluid film is good, Formula 2000 Corrosion Free, Krown spray - all these will do it. Even after pouring oil in the engine, the last few drops from empty oil bottle on the latch, will keep it lubricated.
