Just to clarify, the BC Hydro rebate program is not exclusive to Mysa products. It also covers other brands of electric thermostats. Sinope ones are included. It's around $40 rebate per themostat. See BC Hydro's website for more details.

This is the Sinope one...

I believe the Mysa ones are wifi? Maybe an owner can chime in to confirm this, but I think they're dependant on the manufacturer's cloud server for the smart features?

The Sinope ZigBee ones can be used with a third party ZigBee hub or their their own GT130 ZigBee hub.

Both manufacturers are small and relatively new, so I think it's possible either brands may go belly up. With the Sinope Zigbee ones, you can still use a third party hub if Sinope servers disappear. Not sure what happens if Mysa goes belly up.

This is one heck of a deal, I bought 6 last year when re-doing my house, even with their volume discount of $20 my total was $799 including tax.
Right now, for the same number it's $465 including tax....

I bought one last year on the rebate for my baseboards in the garage and it works great!

Wi-Fi and it allowed me to set the temp lower than the original thermostat. Ended up paying for itself in 1 winter.

I have these, with subsidy from New West Electricity. I'm pretty happy with it and would recommend for other with baseboard heaters.

going to see if I can get my landlord to upgrade some of our thermostats, wish me luck!

are any better than the others for 'tinkerers'? (i.e possibly getting a Pi or similar to control it)

I have 4 of these and I like them. I use them with wyze motions sensors linked with alexa routines. When motion is detected between certain hours, turn up heat. When no motion is detected for X minutes, turn down heat.

I have a few of these for my condo (electric baseboard). They're okay. I don't love them. The app is very basic. I don't like the Mysa's touch interface; it takes several seconds to change the temp from 10 (off) to 25 for instance. I also don't like how it only shows the current temperature and not the set temperature. A better UI would be to show both.

Yes finally BC gets something and I can jump on the smart home automation too but why these brands?
I want a Nest or something more mainstream. The Nest looks nicer too. At least this has IFTTT
