huh, that makes sense then why I read articles for like Toronto how they wrote off millions of $ in parking tickets costs.

So to collect, what can cities do? Just send it to collections? I know private parking (like imPark) can't send to collections and they just bluff. But what can cities do?

I guess if you happen to receive a parking ticket IN the city you currently live, they can count it against your property tax I guess, but if you get it from another municipality?

I used your link just for fun to check. This guy got another 2 tickets this month. Now he's got $930 worth of outstanding parking tickets.

That's a great link, isn't it lol. Actually he just got another $200 ticket for stopping in a no-stopping zone on an arterial road during rush hour. Up to $1,010 now.

Given this person's parking record I'm surprised they haven't been towed already but towing in Vancouver is typically limited to rush-hour no-parking/stopping zones. For municipal parking offences, they would have to pay outstanding fines to get the vehicle back from impound.

If this leads to someone vandalizing their car, I have no issues with that....f**k them.

And I don't care how much $$$ you have or if you own the place. The rest of the cars along the building were properly backed into spots. This from my pickup today.

Isn't this like complaining about how someone parks in their driveway? Especially since they own the lot and it's private property?

Depends. Does the guy own just the business it's parked in front of, or the entire building & the land it sits upon?

I guess getting the edge parking spot wasn’t good enough for this guy. I mean, I’ve seen much worse for drivers whose tire crosses the line but he had so much space on the driver side...
