anyone a fan of the Synology DS413? NCIX offered me 499+tax/shippping...trying to decide if I should pull the trigger.

it's just for a home NAS with a library about 3gb big. I have frequent daily transfers on my DNS323s and a speed upgrade was the main reason to change.

414 coming out soon, and only about $7 less than Cendirect. It might be worth waiting.

I have the QNAP 469L. Been using it for about a year or so, running strong. I was using the DNS323 then upgraded to QNAP 212, then to the 469L. QNAP is awesome but I heard that Synology is also great.

thanks for the info. probably just a hardware update? granted the 414 will probably be a firm 500-550 but I will more than likely heed your advice. thank-you kindly.

How many drives are you intending on using? Isn't a 413 a bit overkill for what I assume is a typo and actually 3 TB?

Have you noticed any issues with the fan not kicking in until higher temps? I've been reading the reviews before pulling the trigger on the KD20, and that seems to be the biggest downfall.

Any 2-bay deals out there?

Going for the DS1513 is such a bad deal.

If you want to jump from the DS413 or DS413j you WANT to go to the DS1812. For a mere 200$ more you would've gotten 3 extra bays, making it a lot more future proof. Now you will be forced to buy the DX510 expansion a lot sooner.

yes 3tb sorry. using all 4 bays I was thinking of using 3 of the drives for a raid mirror and the 4th standalone.
