Maybe they are way too expensive still for those who initiated the down vote, perhaps they feel there are tons of people who have lost their jobs in recent days

i agree that supermarkets needs to make $ so sale items are needed.... however, lobster at 5.99/lb is crazy and that will attract alot of people to buy it... hence social distancing goes out the window...

the price is low because exports to China have dried up, Nations is only passing along current market prices to consumer

Probably from the people who seems to think people need to stay home no matter what ...not even for groceries shopping

I went 2 weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon for 2-claw at $7.99 a pound-- still a very good price-- and I was 1 of only 2 people in the fresh fish area

I was at nations (Vaughan) earlier this afternoon and there was really no crowd whatsoever. They shut down the hot food section and no sushi at all. The bakery section is opened still.

They changed the meat counter to all prepackaged stuff, thus, no line up required.

I would say the entire place has < 50 shoppers in there (at the time I was there)

Scary thinking about how long those lobsters have been out of the ocean. They stopped fishing a few weeks ago. Maybe that’s the reason behind bad product votes??? (Didn’t downvote either)

They haven't stopped lobstering (source, grew up in a lobstering family, and father and uncles still fishing..)

Most lobsters are 'out of the ocean' for longer than you know. They are held in holding tanks until the price is high enough to sell them. (also source, my family owns a fish plant, we hold lobsters for weeks before selling). Lobsters remain in crates with fresh ocean water pumped into large tanks.. The are filter feeders, and can get nutrients without moving from the pumped in water. Want fresh? Show up at a wharf and get them off the boat.

Problem now is with the lack of demand.. The supply is there, but no where to sell them.. That's why the price is low..
