[Freedom Mobile] Nationwide Unlimited Talk & Text - $99/year prepaid again

This was previously posted (@pjw918) but had expired, noticed that it's available again on Freedom's site.

$99/year, works out to $8.25 /mo.

You'll be on an incumbent network when outside Freedom network coverage (n/c).

Unlimited Canada-wide calling, nationwide.
Unlimited global SMS and global MMS, nationwide.

All Freedom plans have access to WiFi Calling, VoLTE, eSIM support.
Voicemail allows 50 3min messages, retained 30 days, 90 more if saved.
Call features include call forwarding, caller name (inbound), missed call alerts.
Thread Summary
3G voice calls require UMTS Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100)
Freedom LTE bands: B66, B4, B7, B13 (B71 to come)

Access to B13 (Extended Range LTE) requires a VoLTE-enabled phone.
You need both for an optimal Freedom network experience.
WiFi Calling is extremely useful, and available globally.
Use the Device Compatibility Matrix as your guide.
[troubleshooting VoLTE]

Prepaid connection fee $10, includes SIM.
May be waived by the online Chat agent.
There are multiple channels of online support.

There are no refunds on prepaid service.
If unsure of service in your area, ask online or trial on monthly.

Do not try to set up autopay for this plan, the system works on monthly cycles.
You'll get reminders before the yearly due date.

Freedom's Fair Usage Policy requires that the majority of usage over consecutive billing cycles be within the Freedom service area.

Do you need to be a new customer to get this? I'm currently using Freedom's $19 plan for my backup phone. Wondering if I can simply switch over to this cheaper plan.

According to the advertisement,
Offer available for new Prepaid activations only.

You might want to contact customer service and ask anyways.

Yeah, I saw that. I was wondering if they would do it anyway, or if I need to port my number out, then back in again. All that would cost is $10 and some time, but I recoup that after just one month.

You can always discuss with loyalty department. I don't think it'll be a big issue on their end, but it's YMMV.

I was able to switch over using online chat last time. The first csr said no, but the second was able to change my existing prepaid plan to this one.

I just finished an online chat with a rep and he was able to switch it for me with no issue.

None. This is unlimited talk and text only; no data.

If you ask in chat, they’ll waive the SIM card cost and activation fee.

Yes, but it will cost more ($15 per GB). In that case you are better off using Public mobile $25 plan (1 GB data, UL call/text) - $2 discount with autopay = $23/Mo and definitely better coverage than Freedom.

If you have a dual sim phone I would get Fido $10/mth for 4 gb as 2nd sim or you can get the 19/mo for 1.5 GB per month + talk and text prepaid at freedom.

This deal keeps taunting me.
If only they could make the service work properly...
In fact in Rand McNally they wear hats on their feet and hamburders eat people

Depending on how much data you need, there's a $179/year plan that adds 5GB/year. Once the 5GB of data is consumed it will be throttled until the plan is renewed. Alternatively, you can also purchase 1GB of high speed data at $15/month if throttled data does not meet your requirements.

Is it no good? I just ordered a SIM card for the $19/1.5GB plan.

They have improved greatly over the years. the wifi calling is a life saver in areas where the coverage isn't so great if you have access to wifi, but otherwise they do roam on the big carriers network as well
