Need lowest cost cell phone plan - need just text

I need it just for text, and expecting to use maybe 5 text per months.

Is 7/11 the cheapest for this ? Or is there a better option.

Sending texts? Or just receiving?

You have to be more specific. Verification texts from various services (banks, apps) are very picky and will not work with VOIP.

Your cheapest option is VoIP apps, like Fongo, Textnow, etc., which are free and offer unlimited incoming SMS. But you cannot receive verification texts reliably on them. For normal SMS messages, no problem.

In that case, 7/11 Speakout is probably the cheapest/easiest. $25 will last you a year, as long as you're not sending any texts or making any calls.

Thanks guys. I wanted to use for verification. I tried many different burner app but, after trying all the ones mentioned here, found none that works reliably.

By the way, I don’t know if anyone else mentioned, but to receive text only, it’s okay to not top up the SIM card at all.

So it’s just $10, and you can get verification sms for whole year. I don’t think this can be beaten

I'd double check that - most providers will deactivate service within a certain amount of time if it hasn't been topped up. Usually it's only a month or two.

Are you sure? My impression was that if there are insufficient funds in the account to charge the monthly 911 fee of $1.25, they will suspend the account much sooner than 365 days.
