Need to repaint properly?

Bought an used vehicle in great condition but with one cosmetic issue. There was an scuff on the rear right side that was touched up, cheap and awful. I was aware of the issue but it’s annoying me every time that I put my kid on his car seat.
Quotes are between $1200-1400 which is not cheap but it will fix the issue.

Do you think that it’s worth to have it repaired properly even though it’s just cosmetic?I plan to keep this car for a while.
It’s a 2017 Honda Pilot EX-L with 48k

I can't really see the problem from the picture. If it really bothers you and you have the spare cash, then do it. It comes down to financial decision and we can't really help you due to lack of knowledge in your financial situation.

Maybe put the car seat on the other side so you don't see this side when putting him in?

Is it plastic. Will it rust. If not... I'm a cheap ****.

Not worth it for that small spot. You will definitely get more hits and dings. Just wait till it gets worse, then repaint it.

Only the black trim has some marks? Can you not polish it? Also maybe sand it down and polish it up again.

Yeah, it’s not much noticeable just when you are really close. The body shop owner told me to hold at least an year to see if gets rusty or not then decide I wanna do it or not. According to him, just the fact of having it painted it will protect against rust. If it was primed then would be better to repaint it right away

Just want to check other people’s opinion to understand the best thing to do.

It’s not only the plastic I the body was painted with a solid lighter white color.
Polishing it may mask it temporarily but won’t solve the issue.

Personally I would leave it. It will be expensive to repair (as you found out) and by having paint already in place it will provide some protection from rust.

I suspect that the primer was still intact from the scrape, so rust is likely not a concern anyways. However if it was an issue the cost to repair won't be much more than your quote so might as well save it for a bit.

One of the problems with repainting a particular spot is getting it to match with the original paint.
Obviously does not make sense to repaint the entire car to fix one spot.
That one touched up spot that does not properly match or improperly done will stand out.

You are right. To get it done properly they will have to paint the entire door and other part as well so the transition from the new to the old paint doesn’t stand out much as this repair

Because the car is white it's indeed hard to see; but I think I see what OP is pointing at. Basically the side there was scraped and it was fixed by touching up instead of an actual refinishing of the panel/area.

The $1000+ price is likely including blending of the door and painting the entire quarter all the way along the pillar to the front fender. Price sounds about right if that's the case.

Up to OP if they want to fix properly but if this is a kid transporter vehicle, you know your kid(s) are just gonna wreck up the car anyway when they're old enough lol. I mean I would get it fixed but then I don't have any kids so yeah; if I did,it'd be a different story. If it was a kidsmobile I'd just leave it alone.

You got it! Yeah, re-thinking about it, I will leave it as is for now and let’s see if I will fix next year or so.
