Negotiate on a 100k debt? Not planning bankruptcy.

Is it possible to negotiate and bring the 100k debt to 30k for immediate payment?
If not 30k, what is the minimum amount we can pull down?

Also is it possible to open a bank account with collection agencies on file? or something like capital one credit card.

Please see: I am not planning bankruptcy.

Debt settlement decisions are typically made on a case by case basis. In the case of a $100k debt I would expect the lender to conduct a complete investigation of your current financial situation. They will examine the original reason for the debt, how old the debt is, the payment history, and the reasons why the debt is in default (assuming of course that it is currently in default). They will look at your income, assets and other liabilities and examine their ability to collect the debt.

Also assuming that the debt is completely unsecured. If the debt is secured then no, the lender will move to invoke its security.

So...background....100k-debt-advice-please-2360944/

Are you working now? Do you have a place to live that isn't based on your credit score?

Why are you not considering bankruptcy? After a year of credit card interest do you still owe $100K or is it much higher now? It should be much higher.

If you have an extra $30K this year, will you have an extra 30K next year? and the next? Because then you are debt-free in under 4 years. Without a bankruptcy.

You say your credit rating is already crap. Eventually, you will be able to repair your credit and get a secured credit card (like capital one).

You can contact the firm loss mitigation department and try to hammer out a deal.

If you are not just trying to wheal your way out of the debt, you can do a consumer proposal as you have under $200K in debt.

Just out of curiosity - why should somebody forgive $70k that you spent on an investment that went bad.

If it were the other way around would you simply tell them that they only need to give you $30k back.

In my less than humble opinion I think it's a better idea to work hard, pay off the debt, and treat this as a learning experience.

Wait… let me get this straight.
He wired a bunch of money to a Korean start up dabbling in crypto currency.
Then the said crypto company went bankrupt because they got hacked and lost all their money?

It sounds like he got ripped off…

- A lot of the $100k could be interest added onto the main debt
- It’s like a business expense for profitable firms that lend money
- Collecting something is better than nothing
Etc

So in 2019 RBC asked you about sources of funds and transactions: legit-email-rbc-2292354/
In 2020 RBC closed your account: bank-said-they-will-close-my-account-te ... e-2358846/
Then you admitted you sent 100k to South Korea to open a business in crypto and then they told you they got hacked and lost the money (in other words, you were scammed): 100k-debt-advice-please-2360944

This is either an elaborate troll or you have gone through a pretty rough scam. Either way, if you don't declare bankruptcy you'll have to repay.

Did you ever call the police? Not that there's any chance of getting your money back, but at least to help prove your case to anyone you're trying to convince that you were defrauded to hope for some consideration of circumstances (ie longer time to payback etc)?

Repay the full 100k!!
Not a Penny less!

I am tired of people taking advantage including cerb and all the other free money schemes.

I also don’t want my taxes or investments to give others a way out. You played the investment game and lost, suck it up buttercup

Investing in Ayurvedic Urea aka Dhatrumurgasiniy herb?

Anyone who tried investing in Ayurvedic Urea?

It's a rare herb named as Dhatrumurgasiniy discovered in country Nepal. They promise 20k each month to potential investors but it's freaking rare, you have to be on the waitlist to invest.

I had a friend that tried that stuff down in South America. Apparently resulted in a lot of vomitting.

Never though of it as an investment opportunity though.

Theres a reason why bankruptcy won’t work or isn’t being considered here…
The pattern fits a “bust out” fraud EXACTLY.

E.g. maxing out credit without intention to pay. Theres no ez way to prove otherwise when the trustee pulls up the credit card records and see “$10,000 cash advance every week… followed by wire transfers to a foreign country?”
