Neo is a Mastercard.

From their LinkedIn they are based in Calgary. Wait-list only right now, if you refer someone both of you get $5 credit.

From briefly scrolling through the website on my phone it looks like a replica of revolut with similar app/card features but added rewards on-top.

It's nice that they mention the $5 referral bonus after you've already registered in the waitlist.

Why do I have a feeling Peoples Trust has a hand in this just like STACK & Koho? lol. Seeing a lot of these services popping up lately.

Someone should make a referral thread on Reddit or somewhere.

Interesting.
Didn't realize STDs had founders. Did they co-found herpes or gonorrhea or something else?

Nah, those are distribution channels

I'm 1997 on waiting list.

I'm glad the Canadian market is ramping up the prepaid "un-banking" portfolio.

Referred 1 person and went from 1971 to 118

Let’s see how many of you abuse this and push me back to 1971

I guess the questions I have are:

1. Will it have no FX 2.5% fee on foreign spend?
2. Will it have a multi-currency wallet (like Revolut and AC Conversion)
3. The site says it will pay deposit account interest at 20 times the average national rate in Canada. Are they basing this, I assume, on the 0.010% -0.050% - rates from unrestricted savings accounts at big 5 (not the big five high interest savings accounts that pay 0.80% -1.60%). Twenty times 0.010% (RBC Day to Day savings) is 0.20%, and 20 times 0.050% (BMO Premium rate savings account) is 1.00%.

The bonus offers from select merchants is what Stack, Brim and, lately, Amex (Amex offers) do, yes? One could speculate that in a world of reduced merchant fees on cards we will see more of this. Merchants who opt in basically pay higher fees, but only to customers who actually shop at the merchant. Merchants who don't opt in don't pay more. Yes, I know it isn't charged as an actually increased 'merchant fee', it is charged as something else, I'm just simplifying it. Get bonus cash/points for shopping at Acme retail, with Acme paying for that cardholder bonus through the card issuer as middleman. Some merchants have large budgets for promotional marketing, and along with sales, coupons, membership programs, etc this is one additional marketing method.

I read a survey result that said Millennials hate going to the bank branch or calling a bank CSR on the phone. So the NEO claim to never have to call anyone will strike a chord, but of course if there are no branches and no one to call...

Get back into the Nixon era, you, I'll refer as much as I want until you can't even pronounce "I am NOT a crook!"
