So if I am understanding the changes to CIBCs Infinite Privilege correctly, they have removed the 6 Priority Pass benefit and giving unlimited access to the Maple Leaf Lounges as long as they are on a ticketed (not necessarily reward) Air Canada flight?

Also does anyone see the benefits that warrant a $200 increase? I have been looking forward to the metal card change having already have one elsewhere but I felt this would have a $100 increase at most. What else am I missing?

I'm interested in where Amex is going to land. As it is they only have 2 active cards, so will they launch a higher tier one? Hopefully details in a bit will appear.
Banking: Alterna Bank (2.5%), Motive Financial (4.1%)
Investing: Qtrade Direct Investing
Spending: Scotia Amex Gold (6 pts/Sobeys, 5 pts/dining, 1 pts/rest), Scene Visa (1 pts)
Mobile: Eastlink 20GB Rollover ($39/mth)

Yes, unlimited access to Maple Leaf Lounges, but only in North America, and yes, it looks like its good on all AC and Star Alliance tickets, whether award or revenue.

As for the 6 Priority Pass passes, I'm not sure if they are removed or not. That seems to be an Visa Infinite Privilege benefit, not something offered by CIBC or Air Canada. We'll have to wait an see I guess.

EDIT: As to your second point, yeah, it looks like we would be paying $200 more for North American MLL access, a metal card, mobile device insurance, a Nexus credit every four years, and slightly better insurance.

Let's wait and see what the sign up bonuses for the new cards will look like! That said, I'm happy I cashed out my MRs at 2c/each as the redemptions I normally do suffered a massive devaluation (e.g. J to Asia).

Overall there are some positive and bad changes. Looks like there could be some sweet spots to be milked, and I like the ability to add stopovers on one-ways.

Thanks! Yeah it's a steep increase, but given the Infinite Privilege Aventura has all those already at $499, I think the $100 extra jump really is for the North American MLL access in the end. I don't use my Priority Pass through the card
because I have Select Priority Pass through my Chase Reserve so the unlimited MLL access will be a welcomed addition. I think I will offset the price increase by finally opening a Smart Plus account so it rebates $120 of the year annually off the card.

PoT and OMAAT have good breakdowns and analysis of the new award charts and possibilities with the new stopover feature. Yes if you book an international itinerary to Asia or Europe on AC metal with the new dynamic pricing you could expect to pay a ton to reflect that you are buying a revenue seat with miles (this isn't new either, i.e. market fare) OR you could still get it at the saver price. Who in their right mind (esp RFDers) is gonna go on AC and pay the potentially high dynamic rate when the saver chart still exists for all of Aeroplan's partners. I don't want to be blunt to say do some research before formulating an opinion, but these changes are fairly significant and there will always be good and bad as FFPs evolve. As an example that benefits me, Vancouver to Tokyo in J just went from 75K to 55K. The new routing rules are also extremely liberal and in many cases even better than the old system under MPM.

I wonder if AC will continue with their scam taxes. I mean, they are devaluing the points and to date, an AC reward flight say to Asia or Europe often cost more after their scammy fake taxes than if you would buy it for cash from any other airlines( Eg. AA YYZ-LHR - $700cash vs AC YYZ-LHR -60K miles + $710tax)
I use voice typing, expect mistakes...

There are no more fuel surcharges after November 8.

i think they are moving to a dynamic system that would open up all seats on AC flights.. if it's empty in biz then you pay towards lower bound of the range, but if flight is full and you trying to book the last one then it's gonna be closer to the upper bound. Partner airlines redemption remain at the lower bound.. Prince of Travel has a nice chart that compare old versus new , bit of a mixed bag

As rumoured, the TD Infinite card will now provide a Nexus fee reimbursement:

Each Cardholder on the Account will receive a rebate of up to $100 CAD for a NEXUS™ application and/or renewal fee.

It only comes up every 5 years, but still a nice feature for both my wife and I to get our Nexus fees covered.
